Wordpress or Opencart ?
What do you prefer for shopping site ?
Why just these two?
There are a lots more e-commerce platforms you could consider. for example: https://merchantmachine.co.uk/ecommerce-platforms/
OpenCart is a pure e-commerce solution for shopping site.
If you are asking about Wordpress or Opencart, then I would suggest WordPress. Because WordPress is very easy to use. There are hundreds of thousands of free plugins that are helpful to customize your eCommerce store.
Except of course everytime you add a plugin you affect performance. Woocommerce itself is a bit of a monster and can eat up resources. Add a few woo extension plugins the whole site can grind to a halt.
You should always choose the most appropriate platform for the job not just because it's easy to use.
Hey fisicx, it is right that plugins affect performance but if we count the user-friendliness of the WordPress. It is very easy to use than Opencart. I have also checked many WooCommerce websites which loads within 3 seconds. So, it is basically the developer who can help the website owner to make his website fast and useful. That's why I suggested WordPress/WooCommerce.
I will go for WordPress.
if i will go then i prefer wordpress
what about Shopify..?
Wordpress because easy to use and to optimizing SEO.
Same can be said for Opencart.
I'd also argue that an out the box Wordpress install in bad for SEO. You have to do a lot of work to fix everything. And if you use Yoast and a pagebuilder it just gets worse.
It depends on your requirements, OpenCart is a typical E-commerce platform whereas WordPress is a multifunctional platform that enables the complete and easy development of your website or the blog.
WordPress works fine and is also user-friendly to use. But I would suggest you go with Magento 2 CMS for the shopping site.
Have you tried setting up a Magento site?
All of ecommerce platforms have advantages and disadvantages. All things depends on your budget, your business specifics, and your goals.
In my experience, there are pretty much no advantages to using Opencart instead of Wordpress
