    I think the trend is now moving to laptops. With cloud computer you do not need a large amount of memory as programs are now stored in data werehouses and can be accessed from anywhere. I believe that soon both desktops and laptops will be slim devices. Desktops will have a larger screen.

    I prefer Laptop, but I'm comfortable with a desktop. The pros of desktops is that you can easily open and check the unit system when it fails to boot up. But the better question for now is what most professional use, the laptop of tablets, right?

    Performance = Same.
    Speed = Same.
    Portable or movable = Laptop.
    So I prefer Laptop

    desktop computers are less expensive, more powerful and more user-friendly, there is a lot to be said for being able to do your homework in a coffee shop and writing term papers on the beach.

    advantages of a laptop computer may seem sparse when compared to a desktop computer, the deciding factor is portability. Being able to check email, chat online, write papers and play video games anytime, anywhere may be worth giving up power and functionality. This is particularly true if you use your computer primarily for checking email and completing schoolwork. If this is the case, you likely don’t need all of the functions and the increased power of a desktop computer. On the other hand, if you are a film student or an avid gamer, you may want to go with a desktop computer, unless you have the expendable income to purchase a high end laptop.

    Essentially, the choice comes down to portability versus functionality and cost. While desktop computers are less expensive, more powerful and more user-friendly, there is a lot to be said for being able to do your homework in a coffee shop and writing term papers on the beach.

    Both are good and each have their own pros and cons.
    And of course, you can choose based on how you will use it.

    Laptop is more useful for me when it comes to work. I can have it close to me wherever i go which is great.
    On the other hand, my desktop is a kind of sanctuary for me. I love to relax in front of the much bigger screen and listen to music from high quality speakers :)
    Also, desktop allows me to fully enjoy a video game from time to time ;)

    It's nice to have both, one for power and one for portability. If you can just have one then go with a laptop, it'll be easier to present your app while you're in face to face meetings.

    I prefer desktops as compared to laptops as I need my computer to a performance beast which ain't possible in a laptop.

    Yes. It suits the current technology of portability. But most of the time, laptops are much more expensive than desktops, even though they have the same specifications.
