Great to hear everyone being so positive. Taking positive action is a much better approach, than letting unfortunate circumstances get you down.

I`ll open a company and own a new business myself.

In fact, I am doing this now.

I haven't worked for nearly a year now, I'm actually at the stage where I'm dreading sitting behind a desk again, even though I want to be working again.

Have you considered freelancing or setting up your own business? We'd be delighted to help you with that.

Thats a good question which I dealt with in 2009. I was laid off from the Oil Rig buisness last year and treated it as a blessing in disguise. While working offshore I had started a small clothing design Company, called Sativa Designs. The process was slow, but local companies have been great assets. Networking with the community and embracing wholesale online enterprises became my main methods of opperation. Also started sponsoring benefit concerts and skating events with the local Surfrider Chapter in my area. Then to help generate income, I began a landscaping buisness utilizing the tools I had procured over the years, and the help of good friends. The two have helped me generate a modest income which I intend to make flourish even in this struggeling economy. Its sites like this one that help give buisness oriented people like myself the insight to create a better future of growth.

Well of course. Be optimistic. I will enroll in a school that offers vocational courses and I will choose the course that is in demand even in a recession. After I have the skills, I'll apply again.

    Depend...
if I have backup/emergency money for several months probably I might do:
    - travel for sometime first....break time before doing hard work again
    - go online, find proven method make money without invest much (stick with one proven work method - don't distract with 'holy grail without do anything quick scam money making scheme kind of things')
A lot cheaper than doing biz offline
    - also probably doing part-time cheap job, during the time you learn from make money online (it takes time though - there is learning curve to learn new knowledge)
    - full time doing online biz when your online biz already proven bring enough money for living

    that's my 2 cents :)

If I woke up tomorrow and found out I'd lost my job, I'd say that this would be a whole new opportunity to start something new. I'm in housekeeping at the moment, and it's really not my favorite kind of work. We're paid by the room, and I'd really like to get a job where one is paid by the hour. Not by the room.

First of all, I don't do the job so no worries. But, if I am in such situation then I would surely switch to another options like going online as a free lancer or anything like that. But, I want sit silently at home worrying about what will happen ahead.
