Does no-follow backlinks are useless?

    No. No-Follow backlinks are not at all useless. They help you to gain traction with your audience. If you get a No Follow backlink from an influential site, you get an audience from there indirectly.
    Also, since the March 2 2020 update of Google No follow links would be taken into consideration in some cases. They would work as hints or pointers.
    So No Follow links are not totally useless.
    Keep this in mind.

    That's not what they said at all. All that has changed is the introduction of two new rel attributes.

    The only difference between a dofollow and nofollow link is that the nofollow link tells Google not to associate the referring website with the referenced website.
