Do I design the layout first or code first?
I'm pretty sure most people would say to design the layout first, otherwise you would be coding off the top of your head. It's better to have a plan.
so i make the layout then do it again but slowly code it
you shouldn't just code something when you don't have a layout. it just like a master plan or a blueprint.
Not neccessarily slowly, more so accurately.
If the layout is simple and been confirm, we can directly code it without wasted time. It require design mock, when we not sure the layout and need further approval.
It better to design the layout 1st at least you have a guide to follow when you are doing the coding part.
The 960 Grid System is delivered as a standard CSS file you can include on your website and contains all the code necessary to effortlessly place content the way you sketched it out on the printed 960 grid. You can download and print the grid for the 960 Grid System (PDF format) and use it to sketch your website layout, there are also Adobe Photoshop grids you can download too
deffinetly you design first you layout. other coder how to know about your requirement. and step they do.
It's much better and convenient if you design the layout first so you won't have a hard time in coding.
I've always had better success designing the layout first. Otherwise you just waste time trying to design by coding (which takes a lot longer)
this is a project so at first you decide what you must do and only then you do it, the ides to decide how the site will look in the process of coding is on 100% wrong!
Change design in photoshop is easier than change code in Dreamweaver especially for those complicated site e.g. CMS site.
