    Digital marketing and its associated channels are important – but not to the exclusion of all else. It’s not enough to just know your customers; you must know them better than anybody else so you can communicate with them where, when and how they are most receptive to your message.

    I agree with you paradisegold, Creating a facebook page and other social media like twitter , G+, Twitter and LinkedIn will be very much effective. large number of contacts will be made, which definitely help for the promotion. But with all these things, E-mail marketing is also one of the best way for promotion.

    I must say its been long years that every forum you visit you read the same SEO, marketing tactics. Any website on this topics will say the same thing. Its over and over all over the web and it's boring.

    It would be nice to see real web statistics from the poster own sites and talk over that.

    plz don't mind.

    If you want to promote then use SMO (social media optimization) its the best place where you can promote your product. Otherwise use overall Digital Marketing i.e SEO, SEM, SMO and PPC

    It would depend on how small or big your business is. If you're just starting off with your business and don't have the means to create a website, marketing through social media could really help a lot. It's free unless you opt to pay for ads. Creating a page for your business can reach a bigger audience and can help with sales especially now that most people have included social media as part of their daily lives.

    It depends on what your idea to market is. If you for exampe don't need SEO and trust Zuckerbers so much you believe he won't change Facebook so much you won't be able to promote there - go ahead and build a business on it. :)

    In my opinion, marketing only on FB is only good for short term. One shouldn't rely on only one source of customers - what if the source stops existing or changes? I've heard of many cases where a business only had a traffic from SEO. One day Google's algo changed and they had to fire 70% of employees. Such thngs happen only when your business table stands on one leg.

    Google has made many changes to their algorithm, and it may not be fair to blame SEO on a business's failure. There have been, and, unfortunately, still are, both webmasters and marketing firms who try to game the system, and use SEO in ways it wasn't intended to be used. Realizing this, Google has made changes to their algorithm to make gaming the system harder, and to make sure that the results searchers get are what they need. As a result, those who tried to game the system instead of doing SEO the right way wound up losing rankings they didn't deserve in the first place.

    100% agree, I don't blame them. Google is an algorithm (private!) and no one should expext it must promote his/her business. I was only saying you never know how the e-nvironment will change thus using only one marketing channel isn't very wise.

    You must use SMO (social media optimization) technique, it is one of the cheaper, faster and more widely available means of advertising. We can segment our target audience in a specific way as per gender or geographical location. With the advantages of generating community and responding immediately to our customers.

    Yes, you can create various social profiles on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and other platforms. You need to be active on all profiles and post various deals and offers regarding your business to attract the valuable customers. Good Luck for your business success.

    Well in my opinion having a website is must if you are owning a business. Promoting business on facebook is one of the type of online marketing which we call Social Media marketing but website is must.

    Yes Facebook page is helps in increasing the brand recognition. Facebook have millions of active users & also provide the advertise facility for your business as well. But yes website play a major role in context of trust, communication & support so we have website must for our business.

    Every company should have its website. But even more those dedicated to this type of commerce. The search engine of Facebook does not compare with google, it is there where people really search, positioning a website will be vital.

    If you wanted to get more clients, you need to widen your visibility - hence, some businesses venture out into digital marketing. Most one man small business usually focus on Facebook because that's where their audience are. However, if you wanted to grow your business, websites and reaching to forums can be a good thing too. It all boils down on the current trend and timeline of your business.
