Yes Google will see the link and follow it, you can add nofollow if you don't want the link to be credited in Google but Bing and Yahoo will pick it up.

Yes, Google will be able to detect the link (if the page the link is on is on the SERPS - meaning it's indexed by Google). Once you've entered in the <a href="#"></a> tags in the document, it's free game for the robots to index. I don't recommend trying to hide links from Google because if they know you're blatantly doing it, you can get suspended or worse yet, banned.

    Think Google Panda...

if you created your image as a href=nofollow then it would not be indexed. otherwise it will be.

Yes, Google has mentioned that it would crawl your link when you use the Alt Tag for the image on your website. Its a kind of image optimization of the image.

You never get sandboxed with nofollow links. No one.

Just to clear things out here: Google will follow any link as long as it's DoFollow. Using ALT attribute has nothing to do with indexing or crawling. Using it will only describe what is the image because bots can't determine what kind of image it is since it has no eyes.

It doesn't work that way. Enough nofollow may save you being sandbox. Why? Because nofollow gives an impression to SEs that your link is natural.

Here is what Google sees in using Nofollow:

But how will people (and the search engines) will find your site if you don't lead them to it, via a link?

Google will still index the link even if it is nofollow.

I thought Google will still follow nofollow links, just that, no link juice is passed.

    This is quoted from Google:

Yes, they will not follow it and won't index it either although if other websites do link without the nofollow they will index it.

If you place link on image than Google can definitely index that link because Google can index everything on page but if you place link in flash document than google can't index that link. And if you place alt tag for your image than Google can place your banner into their image search engine.
