I might consider to buy a server to run my hosting business.
Hey sigma I think buying a server is not a costly thing for now you can take at on rent and then buy it. Best Server Renting Price - $387/Month from HostGator that is best and handles all loads.
I mean buy a server, not rent. One server is about $6000~$7000
I going to buy a server and sell the hosting
Why do u want buy server from HostGator
why not buying directly from ThePlanet
HostGator just resell the server form ThePlanet to there customers
u can get unlimited bandwidth server form $110 onward from ThePlanet
sigma i think u need have your own data center
if u want u can even convert your desktop computer into server
for a hosting company you need to have a data center
and to step up data center u need have lot of cash
i think it is much better to buy a server on rental from top data center
like Theplanet , rackspace , peer1 etc
and start a web host company
and server cost $69 p/m onwards 300 gb hdd and 3200 gb bandwidth
many top webhosting company today don't have there own data center but they buy from other like Theplanet , rackspace , peer1 etc
for example HostGator etc
It is because they provide good support, they take price of there support not of servers mainly.
i dint get how can they proved good support ...when even they have to go and ask the planet if they have any problem
Sigma, do you already own a hosting business? Or are you considering starting a new one?
Hi, As i think it won't have problems in the server always and there will be small small things always, so in small things you won't get a fast help from DC's but from HostGator and such sites gives super fast support and it is very good especially for newbies.
sahil but theplanet is much better in customer support than hostgator
in that sense rackspace should be the option for the newbie
as they offer 100% uptime
and they the best dedicated server provider
and how can they provided super fast support when the server it self is not in ther controle
u complaint them about the problem
they complaint DC for the problem and they solve the problem
if u have direct contact with DC your problem will be solved much soon
Buying a server is not an easy task. You need a big amount of money. If you are not going to start a well-planned hosting business then buying a server is of no use. I have bought reseller hosting pakages from a number of hosting company. They do not cost me a lot.
Actually not as costly as you think. My friends are doing hosting business and i'm one of the share holder but this company is in-charge by him since he know better in IT. And myself is more focus on the SEO
So far we have only two server and i might consider to buy another one.
are you running a web host from own place
if then the server will just $1000 + ( good server )
for $6000 -$7000 you can get many servers ......
how will you able to proved uptime
Only $1000? where you get such cheap server?
My partner bought it about $6000
I not really go into it since this is all handling by my partner, i responsible on the SEO requested by customer
Have a look at Host4Profit they have good service. Many webmasters use their services. Quick to load and have variety of hosting packages according to your budget. They also pay you if you refer others. It is worth while trying them.
$1 = Rs 50
and majority of the web hosting company don't use high end server
high end server are used in big company
and majority of web hosting company use $1000 to $2000
server are cheap
data center means where there are many servers
for good web hosting company you need have your own data center
or host it in some good data center like theplanet , rackspace , peer 1etc
if u have date center you need own a internet line or leased line
starting a web hosting company in your own place is not easy
you need have lot of cash
that is a reason hostgator
use theplanet data center
if they want they can also have there own datacenter
but they use theplanet data center because
have server in your place involves lot of work
need to have 24*7 internet and electricity connecting
if there is some hardware failure in very short time you need to replace it
and so on
Thanks for fine info realitybites, I little bit more on it.
Data Centers requires a large or a vast area, the total cost of Data Centers would be probable Rs.75,00,000 = USD 150000
Hah -- bump time.
I work for an IT rental company -- we're international and we stock over $40 million in inventory, including some pretty fancy servers. Just letting you guys know
To be clear, we rent the servers, not the hosted environments -- but we can install VMWare on our server rentals.
Hope this helps some of you. Somewhere.
