WE can't escape the fact that China has a large number of internet users population. It's possible that they even have their own search engine which they trust the most. I don't know if Google has special powers on penalizing the Chinese websites.

As per my personal view, Search Engine may be regarded as the programs that search documents for specified keywords and returns a list of the documents where the keywords were found. Some of the prominent search engines includes Google,Bing,Yahoo,Ask, AOL, Mywebsearch etc.

Today search engine have gone on customizations...
For eg• docjax for searching documents, PDF etc...this is good one...

Age of specialization..google is best as a all..but ask.com is also worth trying..if you want something different than other people..who use google mostly..

I've noticed a lot of growth in Bing traffic. Marketshare is suppose to be around 16% .. the sites I manage, looking at those pages which rank page 1 on both Google & Bing I would calculate Bing at 37% .. more than double what all the major sites are reporting. Anybody noticing similar trends from first hand experience? I for one have switched to using Bing a lot more simply because I get free stuff for doing it. I recently wrote about their rewards Bing vs Google .. With everyone in my house using Bing we can score like 20+ free redbox movies a month .. of course I prefer to cash mine in on XBox games & add-ons. When was the last time Google offered to give me free stuff? Ummm never.

We see very different results on Business Advice Forum, 94.8% of our search engine traffic comes from Google, 0.5% from Bing.

Google give me lots of free stuff; free traffic, a free top qwuality search engine and other excellent free services such as Gmail :)

Google, Google, Google and ... wait for it... Google.
Just kidding I think its Google, Bing Yahoo and Ask. I agree with Fergal Google does give nice stuff like for example these free Adwords coupons worth like £100 and Gmail even more stuff. :) Google is the best :)

i have also heard about one Named "ALEXA" which is used to extract more details on your site from the various search engines. It also give a nice rating scale graph for the various search engines.

Does anybody remember Cuil from a few years ago? There was a lot of hype about it and some bright minds behind it. It promised to do more than Google, but soon died out. Just goes to show it's difficult for anybody to break the monopoly on the top 4.

That brings back memories Picture, I remember Cuil and we previously discussed it here on BAF. It's a brave or perhaps foolish business that would try to compete with Google. Saying that it would be cool (no pun intended) to see a serious competitor to Google coming from a garage company or a website someone set up from their bedroom.
