I'm just reviewing the #1,#2 #3 ranked site on my niche and noticed that all of them have 2000+ words each. My website for example just has 326 words.

    I'm somewhere between #9 and #10.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

I tried to keep my homepage and copy succint. Keeps wordcount as lot as possible while relaying the most information. It seems that google algorithm don't care and they want informational content, they like landing pages in the format of wikipedia pages. Loads of text, graphic in the format of an information page.

I guess I have to dish out what google wants.

I rank #1 for my chosen keywords with a lot less than that.

it’s all about relevance, authority and trust, not the number of words.

If you follow "terms and condition" of Google search engine and provide unique and relevant content to index your website on Google search engine then your website will be ranked easily.

Nobody knows the rules of the google search engine algorithm. We can guess but nobody knows. Even the Google engineers don't know all the details.
