The Times of India is India's largest selling English language newspaper, selling over 3.4 Million copies everyday. Yahoo purchased a full page yellow ad on the front page of yesterday's edition of The Times of India. You can view the paper version of the ad here.

    Hi Fergal,

Just watched that one, that's something good.

This is the image of Yahoo I show there.

    I have shortened the Image.

@realitybites.in I think that is not true Yahoo wants just promotion so they are promoting there local sites like yahoo.co.in on the newspapers and they are doing same thing in US and other countries also.

They seem to know what they are doing anyway, and getting on to the front page of a large newspaper will do them well.

Umm.. yeah I saw it too.
Well, one thing is for sure - TOI full page ad is VERYYY expensive and Yahoo is not stupid.. So not sure what they are aiming at - Maybe a revamp of Yahoo - I mean it used to very popular in India be4 google took over.

I wouldn't mind seeing a revamp of Yahoo.

You said it 'used to be' popular before Google took it over, what changed?

    It's a clever move.
I would do the same in order to promote myself.
After all, a lot of Internet users come from India. Why shouldn't they use Yahoo services, and maybe earn some money?

I'm not actually sure that it is a good use of their promotional and marketing budget. Most Internet users will already be aware of Yahoo. Some of them will use Yahoo and more of them will use Google. The Google users are using Google because they prefer Google, not because they are not aware of Yahoo. Will they switch to Yahoo just because they see an ad for Yahoo? Personally I don't think so.

I have seen that yahoo advertisement in Times Of India page.Times Of India is one of the most sold news papers across India and it seems to me that yahoo wants to reach to higher volume of people from this country.

Yahoo is one really sick company. It was recently in the news that they hired replacements for workers, required the workers to train the replacements then all laid them off. If they refused to train their replacements they received no severance or unemployment.
