I think for your business to be successful you would need both. However I haven't seen your Facebook page, do you have a link please?

If you want to get your name out there and start driving traffic to your shop, then it would be best to get your own site. Remember you want maximum exposure for your business, and the more of an online presence you have, the better off you will be.

Social media sites are for building community. If you get on Facebook to push products, you will not get a good reception. The better strategy will be to build trust and community and social media. Then steer them to your product websites.

More transport reach to your shop, more better you are. More platform promote your business, more traffic you get. Social site such as facebook, twitter, digg sure will benefit your business.

Social Media networks like Facebook are more helpful for B2C businesses... for a B2B type of business Social Media is a big challenge. Therefore, if you are a B2C product/business then you can certainly take advantage of Social Media to grow your business.
