Microsoft has really gone over the edge in creating the latest addition to their line of operating system software with this one. A whole new look for Microsoft's Windows 8, but how do you think consumers will respond to this? It's a big change made by microsoft in my opinion, but it looks great to me! The apps page defiantly adds that visual flare that Microsoft lacked compared to their rival Apple. What are your views on this subject? Was it a smart move, or a bad one?

This is a good update, but the Metro-style will work good only with touch screen. But in tablet i think better Android.

A mixed view in the responses! @kimipatel, it is said to release this fall, so not too long of a wait. :) ownedbox, why do you think this?

I don' t think Metro style performs well in desktop, not are the wallpapers are suitable for Metro.
Windows 8 is just designed for tablet.

Windows 8 has got Apps like interface and I think that's a good move from Microsoft as the world is being influenced by Apps a lot these days.

I wonder how advantageous that will be for those of us using desktops. I sit a little away from my monitor, so it would be inconvenient to use a touch screen.

The only thing that taken me to choose Windows 8 is the innovative tiled design. It is the first ever design, I've loved in the operating systems.

I use Windows 7 with 64-bits ultimate on desktop and Windows 8 on laptop. I just do not like Windows 8.

As everyone said, it is not that effective and user friendly on desktop. May be Windows 8 works better for iPad or any other touch screen device. But still some people likes this windows 8 style and finding them easier to work. It depends upon the individuals.

I personally think it's awkward for desktop. Although it's the first one I've seen to have an OS to have a tiled-style menus. Most likely you'll find this kind in tablets and mobile phones. It's a risk because there are mixed feelings about the new design.

I've had it for a week now and still can't get used to it. I hate the way it seems to want to tie you into microsoft products, ie: registering a hotmail account to sign up for each app. With the new screen i find myself clicking desktop each time and navigating the old way.
