    So in other words nothing has changed. What we have to do offline to grow our business in terms of establishing and maintaining relationships is still the same online.

    I think the only difference about engaging through the internet is the cost. It is almost free if you want to. And not all free in the internet means low quality. This is actually a good start for small entities. While for big brands, it can boost their presence especially if they want to get known globally.

    Small Business like to spending less amount of money to get the branding and promotion to their business.We could promote the business services and products through social media in all over world with low cost and time.So only Small business giving most preference to Social media for the business promotions.

    I totally disagree with all of you. Social media has its ups and downs. However, the most compelling reaason why marketers use social media is instananeous reach. Speed in this age of decreased attention is absolutely crucial.

    Sure, there are many lucrative services out there promising likes and retweets. The number 'likes' or 'followers' does not equate to how popular or well known your company is. You have no way of knowing whether you having bogus followers and fans. For example, take the Coca-Cola facebook page. I would not be surprised if 30% of its fans are fakes, thanks to all of their promotional activity on Facebook. I once ran a Facebook competition and got likes from people called "Tron Infinity". Extremely dodgy.

    Socal media is just a tool to remind people that you exist.
    You mentioned that it was expensive. Yes, it is. CPC and CPM has the potential to suck your wallet dry. Therefore, be cautious, and use the inbuilt budget functions on Twitter, LinkedIn etc so you don't get ay surprise fees. Once I went nearly $1000 over my social media budget.
