I have an ecommerce store. I have a competitor who has started using white labeled versions of his site. Every site has identical products and all of them have the same description and prices. CSS is used to do white labeling so the text, prices, etc are all identical on all sites. My competitor has amassed many backlinks to his site from these white labeled sites. So they have profited immensely. I strongly believe generating unique content is the best way to improve your search engine ranking. Don’t you agree with me or do you have a different view point

Major search engines can recognise sites that link to each other, in an effort to manipulate the search engine results they achieve. Such sites are described as link farms and the search engines generally penalise them.

How do you know the tactic has been successful for your competitor? Do you know what their search engine listings are like, have you checked if they ranked on the first page for important keywords?
