As I'm tweaking the new theme, I got to wondering which browsers people are using when they visit BAF? It does make a difference in how I customize the code; for instance IE8 will show the site slightly differently than Firefox, because it reads code (or ignores it) in a different way. I've been using Chrome since June, and quite like it. However, as I work I need to check the site in all the other major browsers (Firefox, IE, Safari, Opera, etc.). So I'd like to get a rough idea of who is using what when they come here. :)

I am using Google Chrome and have been using it since around a year ago. Basically, all the time I've been using Business Advice Forum I've been using Google Chrome. :)

I mix between Chrome (browsing) and FF (working - or should I say when I'm on BAF while I should be working) (both on most recent non beta versions).

I'm using Chrome and Firefox. I need chrome for fast searches and firefox for different plugs in/add-ons. That is why i use them both.

    I use Google Chrome. Google Analytics shows the following browser stats for visitors to Business Advice Forum;

    Firefox - 44%
    Internet Explorer - 25%
    Chrome - 23%
    Safari - 5%
    Opera - 1%
    Opera Mini - 1%

In advance of CBI Web having to request it, if he doesn't have access to the stats could you dig down into each of the browsers and pull out the individual versions being used for him (i.e. there's significant differences between IE6 compatibility and IE8, so hopefully the stats show low usage on the older browsers - as making a site backwards compatible is a real pain, but at times a necessary one [e.g. many corporate users still stuck on IE6 due to internal IT policies]).

I myself is using Firefox 3.6.
I tried the other browser, Internet Explorer 6, I have in my system. And it shows the avatar larger than it should be. Here's a screen shot: http://tinypic.com/r/260zqio/7
Well, I knew users of IE6 are quite low but I think it's better to have the glitch fixed for them.

Well, you'll get a lot of answers to this from different people with different viewpoints.

At the moment, I think it's clear that Internet Explorer is not the browser of choice because it's too buggy and full of security holes (and new ones almost every week!), and is too non-adherent to standards.

I'd suggest using Firefox . It's free, is well maintained, has lots of very nice plug-ins and optional add-ons (I particularly like Scrapbook myself), and is under active development. It's not perfect, but seems to be very good.

Another option is Opera, which is free if you're willing to dedicate some screen space to ads, or there's a modest charge if you're not.

Firefox for my browser. I gave up IE after catching a virus from my download from microsoft that cost me a thousand easily. . . .

Google for my search engine, though I'm falling in love with Bing.

I use Opera. Chrome and Opera seem to have fairly good speeds, but when it comes to self security, Opera overrides Chrome. Chrome, being a keylogger for Google seems to be a confronting fact. I still use Chrome for quick browsing on low speed networks and WiFi.

I use Firefox most of the time because of the awesome variety of plug-ins and I use Chrome occasionally.
