    Hey Guys

I have a new marketing budget of approximately $5000/month, and the old banner way seems to have lost it's effectiveness awhile ago. I would love to get some suggestions on where I can invest my new marketing budget. I prefer to do it online, because I can use my analytics and my target market is small to medium Size IT/tech companies.

    Thanks in advanced

Welcome to Business Advice Forum Distantjob! Have you considered purchasing ads directly on niche blogs that target the same market as you?

http://buysellads.com/ might be worth a look, to find niche targeted sites.

    Distantjob,

What are the long term and short term goals for your company and what type of products/services are you trying to sell?

Depending on your answer, I'll be able to provide you with a few different options.

You can have 4 different marketing activity for each quarter.

    Q1 - Adwords (Instant result)
Q2 - buy signature link through forum (long term, improve SERP and traffic, try to get 6 months or yearly plan)
Q3 - Get copy writer for own blog (Create a cross linking promotion within A site and B Site)
Q4 - Contest, lucky draw. (Reward users)

Through this plan you can analysis the traffic and conversion.

There are many option actually, if you aim for only traffic in short term, PPC advertising is the fastest way, adwords is good but it is costly, facebook ads can be another good option. However, if you want to promote your business, then you should concern on social media such as twitter, facebook etc, or use forum signature in niche forum, or craigslist.

Another option is pay to the SEO company, it might take longer time but you will get organic traffic

If you can give us more details about your business then we will surely be able to help you further.

In general if you want to invest that much for promotion then I'd suggest doing proper Search Engine optimization for your site. The money invested in SEO will generate you business for longer time and also it will be all worth it. Other then that you can try PPC but while using PPC you need to be really careful about what you're doing as because I've often seen people wasting money on it.

You can also try getting blog posts on reputed blogs which helps in getting targeted visitors for your site.

With a monthly budget like that, you have many options. You can invest some good money in Adwords, which is sure to get you some traffic. Find big sites of your niche and ask them if they're selling ad spots and come to an agreement.

I run an SEO company so I am a bit biased, however in saying that I honestly believe it is the case...Organic SEO has one of the best ROI's of any online marketing, and it is a long-term solution. PPC ads can be expensive depending on your niche, and as soon as you stop them, the traffic stops. Read around on the internet about SEO and learn a little bit before you choose an SEO company though. It helps you to know the difference between a good and bad seo company! Also you want to make sure that your website is set up well so that it converts traffic into sales...You may want to spend some of that money paying for a conversion optimisation company to increase conversion rates!

Have you thought of email marketing? You have potential to reach hundreds of thousands of users online, depending on your business goals and objectives. Emailanswers is an Email Service Provider with over 100 million optin (permission based) records of individuals who have made a purchase, filled out a lead form, or done something online in the last 120 days. We have a unique program, called the "Guaranteed Opens Program," in which you pay only for emails that have been delivered to the user's inbox and OPENED by the recipient. So many other email marketing companies out there operate on a CPM basis, meaning you pay a set price for every thousand emails deployed. On a CPM basis, you never know how many emails are actually delivered and opened. However, with the Guaranteed Opens Program, we track the number of opens of your campaign and will send however many deployments necessary to reach the total number of email "opens" you have paid for. With a $5,000 budget, we will guarantee that 175K consumers in the United States who have signed up to receive offers related to their particular interests will open your email campaign. We have smaller or bigger packages depending on your budget. Please let me know if you have any questions, as I would love to assist you in any way that I can!

    Distantjob,

Did you ever get the answer you needed to your question? There are obviously a lot of different opinions here and I'm wondering if you were able to make sense of it all.

If it's tech related, you need to advertise on tech related stuff. iNet Interactive has a lot of websites under their portfolio that I'm sure you can advertise on, however, a message on Twitter is a few hundred dollars but all tech people on their Twitter following so it may be worth it.. may not. Best of luck to you.

The best marketing alternative really depends on what type of business you run. If you're unsure, perhaps you can try a mix of online and offline marketing tricks such as social media marketing coupled with tv, radio, and print ads? You already know your budget, so it would be pretty easy to eliminate the options that are out of your capability.
