For those of you who meditate, at what time of day do you do it?

Are there any particular times of day when meditation works best, e.g. first thing in the morning or last thing at night?

I find it's better to do it when I feel most fresh. If you're a morning person, do it then. If you're more of a night owl, do it then. The one extra benefit of doing it in the morning is that it's over and done with before your day gets the chance to sidetrack you into shelving it. If you wait until you're getting tired, you're likely to just fall asleep.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like morning is the best time. Kay, I think you're right, if I did it in the evening I would most probably just fall asleep.

The best time to meditate for me is at night,or in weekend after I go out and do Jogging or a little sport, because I dont have time to meditate in the morning and afternoon, have to work :(

I wish I could meditate in the morning,I could try to get up in the morning at 5.30 and dedicate an hour to meditate, before I go to work
This could be an great excercise, and a chalenge :)

Could you start by doing ten minutes of meditation in the morning and still do your longer meditation on the weekend?

I will strongly recommend Aah meditation by Dr. Wyne dyer, it is available on you tube. very effective for meditation and visualizing your goals and day in general.

Fergal, I found the best time for me to meditate is in the morning. So, I start the day with my best foot board but I am working through my passions statements that create a visions for my life. I like to do it in the morning after I wake up, the night before I go to bed, and at lunch time. So three times a day I read through my passion statements that give me clear to form my day.

I don't meditate. I tried it but I found it was taking too much time and became too stressful. :D

Having said that.. Buddhism has changed my life.

That's a lot of meditation RKCastillo, in what ways have you benefited from it? Also how did you learn it, e.g. did you read a particular book on it?

Would you describe yourself as a Buddhist Stephen?

I also get the time to mediate in the nights only, but i used to take short breaks during the work time that also help in getting refresh, but the ultimate meditation is only at nights.

I create a Passion Statement for each one of the 8 Core Areas of my life. And I focus on those in my "3 times a day" meditation visualization times.

Then I spend a good hour or more reading, learning & praying every morning before work.

Yes not much point in meditating if you're getting stressed about the amount of time it takes. I don't have a set time but take the opportunity when I know i'm not going to be disturbed.
