What is impression in SEO ? How to increase impression for website?
A number of impressions are a number of times that an advertisement has been shown (through Google AdWords or other forms of PPC advertising) or a web page has been listed on a SERP (Search Engine Results Page, in the case of search engine optimization).
Impression is sometimes called a view or an ad view. It refers to the point in which an ad is viewed once by a visitor, or displayed once on a web page. The number of impressions of an advertisement is determined by the number of times the a particular page is loaded.

When somebody search for any query on search engine and you appear in that result but he didn't clicks you is called the impression. that's the basic Idea about the impression which I am aware of.
In terms of SEO impression meaning how may times your website have viewed on search engine. Means how many times Google or other search engine showed your website.
Impression in SEO is the number of times people see your website appear in the search page. However, your website/blog's number of impressions shouldn't be the one you aim to increase. - You should be targeting to improve your site's click-through rate (CTR) and the duration of the time people stay on your page.
Gaining a higher CTR can be achieved by optimizing your landing page's Meta data. This includes the Meta title and description of a specific landing page. Moreover, the only way you can make your site visitors stay on your page longer and actually push them to interact with the information you provide is if your content has high relevancy.
Impression in SEO means view of your website in SERPs (at any page, not necessary at first page).
If he did click, It still count as an impression.
And, to increase impression, there are 2 things to do:
1. Improve your website's authority - Link building is a common way to do this, for me, I personally fancy another method is to use social signal.
2. build a rich volume of content. You should write blogs. If the resources are limited, you could rewrite other articles in your own words. This seems a little bit "not nice" but is necessary if you want to appear more in the search result pages
Impressions are number of times your digital asset was viewed. Asset can be Banner, Video & URL... In your case, number of times your website appeared on SERP is SEO impression.

Number of times your website is visible in the Search Engine Results for a particular keyword, it will be considered as impression. Unless and until user is visiting that SERP page, that impression wont be count in Google Webmaster.
For example:- if your website is ranking in the 3rd page of Google, and user is browsing till third page than only it will be considered as impression. If user is not browsing after the 2nd page than it will not be considered as impression in Google webmaster tool.
