I have been working out sincerely since past many years but still no success with weight reduction. reason, my big apetite ,I am just addicted to eating.if i could control the urge for the entire day,its late night i raid the refrigerator and have my fill.

My family members want me to see in the perfect shape but my voracious appetite is coming in the way.
Any suggestions to get rid of this strange addiction?

How old are you? If you don't mind me asking.

As you get older, it's a lot harder to maintain your weight. What you consume has an 80% affect on your work out. In otherwords, if you're snacking and eatting large portions throughout the day without getting your daily vitamins and nutritions, your work out won't really give results.

I would definitely suggest taking protein shakes mixed with fruits to subsitute meals such as breakfast and eatting veggies such as celery sticks and baby carrots in between meals if hungry. Try to balance out your meals. I know that hamburgers and fries are really hard to stay away from so if you have this for lunch, eat a really healthy dinner like grilled chicken/salmon with veggies for dinner. Try to stick with water with all your meals. It's a huge commitment but I guarantee you'll see faster results and feel healthy.

Another thing that might help is..NEVER go to the market on an empty stomach. ALWAYS go grocery shopping after you've had a meal :)

rebecca, I would suggest you find some support for this. Knowing you're not alone can be a great motivator. There's a site called fitday.com where you can track what you eat, the calorie count, and get support from the community too. You can get a free account. You can keep a journal there and use all kinds of tools to figure out where you're falling down with your weight loss plans. Three meals a day that fill you up enough to reduce the temptation to snack would help you very much.

To control your weight you need to do teh regular exercise with the proper diet. Stay away from the junkie food, cold drinks, oily food. For snacks you must eat food like salads. Also take light dinner so it helsp to decrease some fat amount from body.

Losing weight may not be easy, but it is simple, all we really need to do is eat less and exercise more. Drinking lots of water can help, it makes you feel full, yet doesn't put on any calories. Drinking a pint of water 15 minutes or half an hour before a meal will fill you up a little bit and make it easier for you to eat less during the meal.

You could also try setting a time every evening and don't eat after that time. You could say that you will not eat after 9 in the evening for the first week and will not eat after 8.45 in the second week. Keep bringing the time back a little earlier until you get to a stage where you don't eat anything after 6 or 7. Give yourself a reward if you stick to this regime for a week.

It also helps not to be too ambitious. Don't try to lose a few pounds per week. Even losing half a pound a week is a great achievement. Not only are you going in the right direction, but you have saved yourself from putting on the additional pounds that would have been there if you did not exercise discipline and self control.

As for exercising, try to do something you enjoy, anything from walking to dancing to some form of team sport. Walking is actually great, because almost anyone can do it. Start doing a little, even a few minutes every day, and then every week increase the minutes you walk for. Again the objective is to start moving in the right direction and to get small wins and achievements.

Ask yourself what kind of person you want to be. Do you want to be someone who is constantly putting on weight or do you want to be someone who is taking control and making improvements in their life. When you spend some time thinking about this (i.e. the kind of person you want to be) and being honest with yourself it makes it a lot easier to exercise the discipline and control required.

    Good luck with it.

May be a good specialist is necessary, I mean a phsycologist can be ok. You should realize that haveing a good shape is really healthy. I don't mean being skinny, but to have a normal weight.

It's all in the mind. If you think that you're craving too much then it will follows but if you think that you're good on it and not vraving for something, it will follow as well. It's just a matter of motivation.

I find that in our house there are food I cannot buy, except for a treat. they will not stay in the cupboard no matter what. If I buy three bags of chips they will be gone in three days seven bags will last a week, so we don't buy chips. Will power and determination will go a long way. Like Fergal said don't try to do to much at once or you will get discouraged and give up. A simple diary of EVERYTHING you eat for a week can be a great wake up call. By the way, it's not a strange addiction. good luck.

My personal experience is that it is much easier to resist the first bit of junk food than the second. What I mean is, if there are biscuits on the table, it's not really that difficult for me not to eat any of them. However, if I eat one, I just can't stop myself until I've eaten loads of them.

Yes right this battle of winning against your temptations is really tough. yesterday i was determined not to eat any thing after 9:00 PM.i was working till mid night and then before i hit the sack hunger pangs hit me.
There was a bowl of sweets in the refrigerator.i some how resisted my self and took only one. so it was kind of a partial success.

That's what makes it a goal worth achieving, it would be no fun if it was easy :)

I want to ask how to lose my weight, too. I'm so confuse, why I can't lose my weight like others. Someone can help me?

rebecca16 it's normal to have set backs every now and then, but don't let that stop you, keep up the good work and keep going in the right direction.

Lucywu2012 the simple answer is to eat less and exercise more, but just because it's simple doesn't mean it's easy. Did you read the other posts in this thread?
