Webinars are becoming more and more popular as a business communication tool. I previously attended webinars as part of an entrpreneurial training programmer. They ran quite well but admittedly they don't have the same impact as having a trainer sit in the room. The webinars were managed using services provided by http://www.present.ie/ and the technology functioned very well.

Some of the sessions were with delegates in Ireland and a trainer in Canada. Unfortuantely there were times when there was a short time lag in the voice communication (across the Atlantic), which made it a little uncomfortable. If this happens try to reduce the level of data as much as possible, to help speed things up. For example you might only allow communication in one direction at times when two way communication is not required or you could turn off video for a short time.

The main advantages of Webinars are associated with time and cost savings. They are obviously an extremely cost efficient way to communicate with people across the globe in comparison to holding physical meetings or presentations.

If you are looking for something very sophisticated, you might consider TelePresence, have a look at the very impressive video in that post.

Do you plan on using webinars for your own business?

    Experience of Webinars

Over the past year we've used webinars by remote trainers to deliver workshops. They worked quite well - video was fine but the sound quality was an issue. We were using VOIP and experienced delays. This made it difficult for participants to concentrate for long periods and needed facilitation to control the dialog during discussions. We intend continuing using webinars but are investigating using local dial up to carry voice in an effort to overcome the VOIP delays, due no doubt to the laws of physics.

    A suggestion I received recently is calliflower.com

I want to start a weekly class: Webinar that covers a step by step process of internet marketing and affiliate sales. The Idea is simple. Customers/Prospective students come to my site and click on a link to join my class, they are asked for an admission fee and are prompted to download the relative content for that week, and then, on the scheduled time, they enter the class/webinar.

Sounds like a good idea savannah, you would be welcome to promote those webinars in our Webmaster, Hosting & Advertising Offers & Requests advertising forum section. Was there anything in relation to the business idea that you would like feedback or suggestions on?
