I learned PHP by library book by Larry Ullman. All his books are excellent and he also has a forum to help you when you get stuck. Beside taking classes, this is the best way to learn. My library doesn't have all his books so you might have to purchase a few but they will be well worth the money.

Hi there, you may wanna try O'Reilly PHP book. Aside from PHP website itself, that's also one of my reference/tools I used for my brainstorming and self-tutorial.

...And I have training course videos and tutorials from Lynda as well.

I don't use the youtube tutorials myself, so I don't know about that. But the author I am recommended is always complemented for being the best teacher of PHP and MySql. Some people that are confused from other books, and even college classes, can understand his books.

Personally I really like Udemy. They are several free classes and paid classes on PHP and tons of other technical and non-technical topics.

W3Schools offer a free online tutorial, I haven't started the PHP one yet so don't know how good it is, but have worked through the HTML and CSS ones, and just started Javascript and they have all been useful.

I suggest to go to your local library and find good books about PHP and start learning for it.

Spend some times to take a note what you have just learned.

Keep googling around with good keywords you might find good sits like source-forge, server side interesting. And definitely get a good book, preferably go through Oreilly or Wrox books they are very for laying your foundation.
