Do any of you use Yahoo Answers to promote your forum? I used it to promote my blogs in the past and it did great for traffic and revenue but I don't know how well it would work for a forum if at all.

When people pay a visit to Yahoo! Answers, they are looking for information, tips or advice on a certain topic. The may be interested in finding out the best way to cure a cold or the best way to make homemade ice-cream, where the best places to shop in New York City are or one of a zillion other things they have on their minds. When someone comes along and answers a question they sometimes leave a link for the viewers to click on for more information. This link often leads to a site where those interested can make a purchase.

Yes, Yahoo Answers is a good channel for potentially linking your on-line content (in the right context) to web users....I think what is important though is to ensure the Yahoo Answers topic / posting links well in terms of content to the Web site you are promoting / linking in the Yahoo Answers posting.
Overall I agree it works well

For sites and blogs it is a good source to divert traffic, but for a forum it might be a bit difficult. I have never used it to promote a forum but never saw a forum being promoted as well. Its worth a try and it might be worthwhile.

That depends if there is someone who will be asking about forums.

If the forum is specialist it may well be better able to provide an answer than Yahoo, so I can see mileage in keeping an eye on Yahoo and answering questions that hit your forum's sweet spot, or even posting a redirect to an existing thread in your forum.

I think it is worth remembering that it is quality of traffic that drives business not quantity. So if there is potential high quality traffic on Yahoo that is relevant to your forum, then go for it.

I've never used it for any forum, so not much experience. But, it might work as it would be pretty similar to site only. Only thing would be not to expect much new members with that.

Yes. One way is to get replies you firstly post some questions relevant to your forum and then wait that some one answer your questions or not. In this way you have idea that i can use yahoo for forum promotion or not.
