Hi, I have just set up as a sole trader, trading under a business name.

I have bought a name related domain and set up email etc.

Does setting up as a sole trader protect my trading name? Would I need to setup up the related name limited company and make it dormant to stop someone else trading under a limited company with the same name?

    Thanks in advance

    Yes.

And even that wouldn't fully protect you as someone could buy a similar domain and do their own thing. There is a window company where I live called Amazon Windows. My main domain has the same name as a huge US fashion and cosmetics business.
