According to this article Google makes nearly all their money from advertising 97%, when you check out the cost of some of these keywords you can see why they earn so much.

Here are the Top 5 Keywords:

    1. Insurance - $54.91 per click
    2. Loans - $44.28 per click
    3. Mortgage - $47.12 per click
    4. Attorney - $47.07 per click
    5. Credit - $36.06 per click

I guess its a free market and when you want to advertise at the top the only way is to bid higher than your rival, but these prices are crazy!

Amazing but it is also true that it is an open market and people can bid according to their strength and if their profits allows them with higher CPC'c no doubt these prices may go high. In the wise world today no body would spare more than expected.

That's interesting. I suppose it's relative, though, to how much they make per conversion. If I'm selling something for $20 online I certainly couldn't pay $50 per click, however, if I'm making $5000 per conversion then $50 per click doesn't sound too bad.

Crazy prices. That tells investors to get out of Google now. Not much further to go before the rate of revenue increase flattens out.
