The bounce rate metric shows and analyzes the behavior of user traffic landing on your page and leaving. The lower the bounce rate - the better as it shows that users landing on your page have very low chance of leaving probably because your page contain information that most of the users are looking for.

It may signal search engines like Google that your page is informational and that users find what they need when they land on your page, making it a basic but important factor in SEO.

    Basant!

Pretty old question, though. Decreasing your bounce rate will improve your rankings as Matt said. That's the trick of Google's own business.

Bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who come to your website and leave without viewing any other pages on your website. Decreasing your bounce rate will improve your rankings

bounce rate increasing by your site containing irrelevant content Or you have targeted irrelevant keywords on your site causing irrelevant traffic is coming to your site, also if your site is slow causes increasing bounce rate.

Bounce rate is an important factor for SEO. High bounce rate is not good for the website. If you need to decrease bounce rate then your site have to clear navigation. Make sure your content is easy to read. Increase loading time of your site is another factor to decrease bounce rate.

The average bounce rate of a website must be 40% but it depends upon the type of site, industry, type of page etc. Bounce rate is one of the important factor for SEO.

When a person comes to your website & leaves it immediately without going traversing another pages. I have also read many article regarding this & many of the good webmaster has given some genuine point.

    Example :-

If your are searching keyword & you find a website. After click that website a particular page will open which will provide you all the answer that were looking for. Normally when a person has already got his all answer from one page then why he will visit another page. It is also about average time duration of a person spending on website.
