In different update of Google, it has made many old SEO techniques (Directory Submission,Link exchange, guest blogging etc ) ineffective but it has made effective some techniques that are below

From Jan 2011 Google and Bing has started accepting links from twitter and Facebook for ranking of a site for certain keywords but according to my experience links from Google + profile are very effective to promote a site.

One must share the post on Socials networks and activities on these links can be very helpful to get high ranking of that page. But this page must have that keyword.

SEO has always been changing but as long as you are not trying to make search engines fool and you are doing every thing naturally then you will get the right results. Link building has become more challenging and normally social signals are noffollow but still social media has a great impact on ranking

The reality is that social will evolve, as well. We are talking about new technologies in search coming in. Technology that simplifies actions changes user behavior. While we used to seek information via the Web from our desktops in the 2000s, today, we’re asking via voice commands to our smart phones. Tomorrow, we’ll wave our hands (or even just think about a topic), only to get a multiple media spectrum of information before our eyes.

I completely agree with you, social media sites like Google+, Facebook, Twitter etc helps to promote the website and one should keep sharing the informative post with quality of images and video's. Using Hash tag(#) in the post will help to rank your listing in SERPs.

I think all links count in some way. But, getting google links is hard and very time consuming. Question - where does it end? How do you get to the top? Via black hat seo ?

Although the temptation is to use the easy way, using black hat techniques will do more to harm your website's rankings, and it will take even more work to clean up the mess. Yes, it is time-consuming, but doing things the right way means the reward will be that much greater, and will last for a longer period of time.

If you think that using black hat techniques you can rank on top then one day you will be catch by search engine and It will penalize you. Whether you are posting poor, thin or copied content or creating poor or Spam links.

SEO has always been changing. To get steady stream of organic traffic, you should use white hat SEO techniques, and use content as main factor. Google always try to put attention on User experience

    Basics will never change.

Being active on Google+ definitely helps you improve on SEO factors. For example, the knowledge graph which grabs the attention of the searcher, is been pulled with reference to your Google+ page and Wikipedia. Consider localizing factors. Have CCTLDs if you cater a large geography with budget to implement or have sub folders than sub domains. Consider responsive design as every are on mobile now strategy. More of visual content will get better visitors. Have the goal to earn links ethically - organically. By this I mean to have people talk about you than you pushing hard for them to talk.

You need freah content (on your own site and other related, authority sites) as well as links using a vaiety of methods - blog commenting, quality directores, forums. The sites you are linking to need to be relevant and high authority. Yes, it's difficult and slow, but worth it in the long run
