My understanding of Angela's Method of SEO is that it involves getting spammy profile links to a website. Personally I would not want to use an SEO provider who lists Angela's Method as one of their SEO practices. Am I right or am I being a bit too harsh?

It's not being harsh Fergal. It's being realistic. It's not them who will mostly suffer when you get into something very risky as you know it - but your website and it's credibility and authority, as well as you. You do not want to spend money on something you know won't last long .. something that won't give strong value to your website, something that won't efficiently build a foundation of your website.

Even in SEO, prevention is always better than cure.

    P.S
Have you had any problems with an SEO company? I'm open anyways for opportunities. :) If you will need one.

    Regards,
    Mark T :)

Well, it is very useful when back to year 2007 but not now. Google keep on improving their algorithm, they seems kicking out those site with tons of low quality backlink. Paul and Angela's Method is no more working nowadays

Let start by saying I don't condone spam. With that being said there is no doubt that some links are better than others. But if search engines did not like these kinds of links they would simply not index them. If they wanted to stop link building they would not index links that come from any area that is not controlled by the webmaster. It is a give and take relationship and because of this they will always allow link building in one way or another. People knock profile links all the time but I have seen sites on the first page of Google for very competitive keywords that have almost nothing but profile links. The truth is natural links come from all different places from all kinds of sites and to say that the search engines will discipline you because of profile links is from my experience a myth. If you are looking to hire a company to build links for your site the number one question should be about link diversity.

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. Personally I'm not a fan of services that provide profile back links, that comes from my experience here on BAF. At one time we received a huge number of registrations from users who signed up and never posted, they simply included links to Viagra sites etc in their profiles and then never appeared on the forum again. This was complete spam in my opinion, it didn't help BAF and it took a lot of my time to deal with and remove the links.

Over the last 12 months, profile links have been significantly devalued by Google. That's not to say that "some" profile links would hurt as I'm guessing that Google expects to some in most link profiles anyway. The issue with profile links is most people subscribe to the "more is better" mentality. Thanks to tools like Xrumer and Sick Marketing Software, it's all too easy to get several thousand links in a very short period of time (take it from an ex-Xrumer user).

I'd be wary of any link building or SEO service that touts profile links as part of their overall linking strategy. There are much higher value links that can be built for the same investment of time. Just my .02 as YMMV.
