How long do I have to do SEO for?
To whom? your company website or client's website?
You cannot stop SEO as google changing its algorithm often nowadays.
Within 6 months you can expect results if keyword competition is much then tips span can be more.
SEO is a continuous process, if you stop today you can't see your site tomorrow on search results..
The work of seo has no end as you have to be updated in the market and Google changes its algorithm on a regular interval basis.
SERP is floating, competitor is increasing, search engine algorithm is keep changing. The moment you stop it, competitor may take over.
How can you say that within 6 months results will then show? Sometimes, in just 3 months you can see results - but sometimes - even after a year you cannot see any result yet. It is because there is no exact period of time to see results for your website, especially when you are a new competitor. But the good news is, as long as you continue with the process, as well as maintain a flexible SEO, being updated with the changes, etc then it will later on show you your efforts on it.
Vishal23 does have a point, although I do agree with Alexander that 6 months as a general rule is to long. In some cases, websites will see substantial upward movement in 3 months, and in others, websites have reached page one in less than 3 months. Others may take 4, 5, or even 6 months, depending on the industry, and, as vishal23 mentioned, the competitiveness of the keywords. Unlike Alexander, however, I do not think anyone should wait a year to see results - If no results are achieved in 6 months, something is wrong. If you are doing the SEO yourself, you might want to seriously consider hiring someone. If you already hired someone, and you are not seeing any results after 6 months, fire them.
As Alexander and others have mentioned, SEO is a continuous process. Once you start, and achieve your goal, there will always be someone who wants to be where you are. Plus , if you stop, Google will notice you are apparently no longer as popular as you once were, and your rankings will drop.
Within 6 months to see the result is too long actually, and as you mentioned that you "cant see the result after a year", this only happen if you are doing a bad job or do it in the wrong way. If what you mean is in the top 3 pages, then it can be happen.
By the way, generally you should see the result within couple of week, at least you can see your keyword being indexed (although it listed very far from the first page), and you should able to see the improvement of the ranking time to time if you are doing it in the right way
SEO is an ongoing process and has to be done continuously. Plus if you're consistent, algorithm changes won't affect you very much.
For local search terms you can gain results in just a few weeks however it does depend on the market saturation if it's a competitive term it could take longer but if no results are being obtained within a month then I would change your seo provider - it also depends on your budget too
SEO is a technique which helps search engines find and rank your site higher than the millions of other sites in response to a search query.
Now days i think it is continues process as many companies are in pursuit of getting the top spot and if you are there then do the continues SEO of your website to retain the spot... Similarly i also think if SEO is giving your ROI then keep spending time on it to retain this ROI...
Believe it or not, if you focus on high-quality, original content, and you make your visitors happy, there is a chance that you can slow down at some point. Trying to scramble up the rankings by using tricks and shortcuts will make you rise and fall like the tide. Building a quality site that visitors love can make your ride high and stable for a long time. The two keys are quality and visitor focus. Forget about the latest and greatest shortcuts. Any shortcut that works today will stop working tomorrow, just when you start to rely on your traffic and income. It's a good way to waste time and money.
Seo is the continue processes there is no time limits and the limit of the links it always demand more more and more .
Greater you have links greater you have benefits
