    Send Social is a new service that allows you to send physical goods to your online friends and connections, without knowing their physical address. The only information you need is the recipient's email address or Twitter ID.

    The concept was largely born out of Twitter. Send Social's founder Ben Way posted a Tweet asking for feedback on the business idea and offered 10% of the company to those who re-tweeted his message.

    What do you think of the concept? Will the business be a success?

    Send Social's How it Works page describes the service as follows;

    Their main competitive advantage is that they provide a service that allows you to send a package to someone who's address you don't know. They outsource delivery to a courier company.

    They do charge for delivery. Have you had a look at their site to see how the service operates.

    This is a great idea, but I do not think it is a massive problem people knowing your address.

    In most cases it is fine. But when you meet someone through a social networking site you can't know for sure that they are who they say they are and you need to be very careful about giving them any personal details.

    Good point, you are right. Hopefully they will expand the service to other countries soon. From their website FAQ's...
