Is RSS Feed Essential ? How does it help for SEO?
Yes RSS feed is essential. It helps you in site ranking, but the unique content must be available on your pages. Also if you are directing multiple feeds to your page, it is not practical or not useful to take all the links and rewrite the content on your own pages.
In my opinion RSS Feed is not important anymore, neither in SEO nor in general.
RSS Feed is used to update readers about newly published blog posts, mostly. Users used to subscribe to RSS feed of different blogs and sites and whenever there was something new on that site or blog, users would get the updates to their inbox or RSS Readers. However, many SEOs purely used it for link building purpose only.
Since Twitter, Facebook and other social platforms became popular, users do not have to subscribe to RSS feed anymore. They just follow the blog/site on Twitter or Facebook to keep up to date with new activity.
Therefore, like many other SEO tools and techniques, RSS is just another outdated or redundant tool that has no use in SEO neither it has any impact on search rankings.
If you are concerned about marketing and spreading your content aggressively on different channels then surely this is for you. Get as much as RSS submissions you can so you can reach out the maximum audience. Nothing is out-date only the way is changed and the poor tactics make their way to penalty..
RSS Feed is the XML based content format which is helpful in promoting the website without advertisements and also helpful in distributing the news, contents, texts and lots more. RSS Feed is helpful in generating the back links and gaining high traffic to your website.
Adding RSS feeds can help a site ranking, but in a less direct way than the unique content available on your pages. Obviously if you are directing multiple feeds to your page, it is not practical or useful to take all the links and rewrite the content on your own pages.
Rss feeds help to generate more traffic. You can get lots of backlinks that increase your site traffic.
As per as my point of view RSS is till important in SEO, let me explain you. Each day you get 300 visitors on your site, but from the last two months you have not uploaded a new blog on your site due to that your visitor started to move. The time you have uploaded the new blog, automatically the visitors started to come because the message sent to the visitors about your new update it because of RSS submission where the user subscribe with their email id. so its important for seo.
RSS is not much important now a days. It's better to upload contents on your site instead of submit RSS to different spammy site that harms your website too.
I completely agree with you, Twitter and Facebook made it easy for the readers to follow the blog for any updates rather than RSS Feed submission. RSS Feed Submission is now not helpful neither to increase the ranking nor to boost the traffic.
There was a time when rss feeds work well for improving ranking but now SEO has change completely so its all about getting quality back links from high authority sites and then write quality content and add unique content to your website pages and blog.
Just Remember some points when you are doing RSS Submission.
1. The RSS Submission site must have good PR and good Domain rank
2. Submit your Site in maximum 4-5 sites only
3. RSS Submission is not mandatory
It will only help you if you regular update your blog post. There are number of great feed submission sites are available but you need to update your blog or feed at-least once in a week.
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
No, it is not necessary but if you want to promote your site then it helps to increase traffic that cause ranking.
