Recently, I've heard a lot of cries for help from brand new Online Marketers who have no idea what they want to do online, just that they want a business that they can work from home. I can't decide a business model or niche for them, but once they make those decisions, that's where I come in. My tag line is "Teaching the basic strategies to build a profitable online business from idea to income. The business idea has to be formulated before the beginner can start business building. You have to know what you want to do and who you want to serve before you can get started in Internet marketing.

I have been on the internet for several years and thought I was serious about building a business online. I worked hard at it, putting in countless hours week in and week out to no avail. I'd try my luck at this then that but nothing worked out for me. It's just been in the last year that I finally understood that I needed to invest in myself and get an Internet marketing education. I am certainly not where I want to be, but I'm miles ahead of where I was a year ago. I struggled for so long trying to figure it out on my own and got nowhere.

Yes, I taught myself a lot along the way, but nothing that was going to produce much money. I'm now on my way to a decent income. I've got a much greater understanding of how all of this works. It's taken me longer because I'm in my 50's and we at this age don't usually grasp technology as easily because we weren't raised with it. That's why I decided on this business model and niche.

Do you want an online business but you are clueless as to how to go about it and don't think you have the skills? This is the information age. You can learn.

Are you thinking you have nothing to offer that anyone else would want to know? That's not true. Each of us were created as uniquely different individuals. There is no one like you in all the world. You have skill sets that others don't. You have unique experiences, passions, knowledge and abilities that others don't. You do have something to offer, something that others are willing to pay to know.

A friend once said to me that she had been nothing but a homemaker and mother all her life. She felt she had no skills to start a business of her own. I have to tell you I sort of blew a gasket on that one. It disturbed me a little to think that a woman who had complete responsibility of the day to day operations of the home for so many years thought she had nothing to contribute. She was the Chief Financial Officer of the family finances; budgeting for braces for her kids with no additional funds coming into the household. She created beautiful meals for a family of 5 on a small budget and to save money, had learned to be pretty handy at fixing things around the house when small repairs were needed. She's raised 3 bright children who didn't kill each other and grew up to be well adjusted, capable and successful adults. I'd say she had a lot of expertise in a great many things that others would happily whip out their credit cards to know.

What do you know that others want to know? What do you love to do? What are you particularly good at doing? What work experience or life experience do you have that would interest others? Do you have good clerical skills? Maybe you could be a Virtual Assistant. Are you passionate about cooking? Perhaps there's an online cooking show or kitchen tips and recipe business in your future. Maybe even selling Aunt Mabel's snicker doodle's that you have perfected. Lots of mommies need help with juggling the day to day responsibilities of running a household. Do you know about weight loss or getting into shape or healthy living. Maybe you have a brick and mortar shop that you want to take online. How about crafting? Perhaps a "how to" business around that or even selling your own crafts. The opportunities are endless.

I'd say all of these, because they all are challenges honestly.

Social Media and Traffic. Who is social? Everyone. That means you have a greater audience to reach to. Think of it like this, would you rather drop flyers by plane at New York or in Alaska. NY Right? More people see it, greater chances.
