    When we See Traffic Source in Google Analytic Account of any website. Then why does it show Google.com in the referral Section. Can any one explain.

    It is telling you how much of your website's traffic came from Google.com. Does that answer your question?

    Well by google.com it means that the traffic you are getting from the google search engine. And the stats of traffic coming from search engines shows the traffic coming from all search engines.

    I had noticed this discrepancy as well -- where there is some extraneous traffic not appearing as search traffic but rather from Google.com under referral traffic. Could it be from products and places possibly?

    It is simply just a way of helping you to compare what came from Google's Search along with a referral site such as BAF. It's no more complicated than that.

    Hi JMP -- I understand what you're explaining here - but it's not what I'm referring to.

    For example - looking at stats for yesterday the 12th for one of the sites I manage:

    Under 'Referring Sites' it shows Google.com as having send 30 visits.
    Under 'Search Engines' it shows 3,702 visits from Google search/cpc.

    If you go to 'All traffic sources' you see both separately as well as the CPC traffic. My best guess is that the referral traffic is from Google Places or Google Products.

    No this will not solve my purpose. If visitor is coming from google.com. It should show in search engine traffic.

    Hit the nail on the head (well, part of the possible reasons for it). It's from google properties, other than directly from organic results.

    I can't wait for the day each of those sources are identified. I'd love to know what our conversion rates truly are for products and places.

    You are getting google.com as referral as many times we get traffic from google groups and other services of google which is not counted as a google organic traffic, it goes to referral section in google analytics.

    Also if you have noticed some traffic from Google images, it will also shown under Referral Traffic though it comes from google (but Images)

    If there's one thing we know about Web authors it's that they are constantly seeking new sources of traffic for their content. It doesn't matter if you're a blogger, a marketing manager or a small business owner, there is simply no reason to invest time with content creation and Web design if no one is coming to read it. For this reason, it's important to figure out where to actually invest time for the greatest ROI.As a blogger I routinely asked myself the same question, until I finally realized that I (as the CEO of Woopra, the Web analytics company) had access to all the data I needed to make an absolute determination about which areas deserve the most attention.

    You can create some small utility or an application and can submit this to various free download websites along with the description and link back to your website. People will download it and will flow towards your website from these download websites. There are many other ways to get referral traffic and I will continuously update this article to put more good ways. You can subscribe to the RSS of Daily Technology Tips website to get latest technology tips.

    What conclusions did you come to as a result of looking at that data, where is your best traffic coming from?

    @freelancemom

    Google is about to make some changes to google analytics. Have you heard of any of the changes they are making?
