    Hi everyone,
Thank you for your replies to my introduction. Good to meet you all.

As a new business owner, I am always looking or ways to promote my website.

I am mainly concentrating on posting ads, submitting articles, and participating in forums.

My question has to do with advertising. I am not wanting to spend any money at this time, and was looking to post free ads.

I have had a little success with this, and wanted some assistance with what you think are the best sites / places to a place free ads. There are many on the net, but how to chose the best ones?

What are the best forums to sign up for? I am looking for some sites, where I can exchange ideas etc, with others.

    Any other ideas??

    Thank you for your help.

May we know what kind of business are you running and the URL of your website if you have any?
This could help in getting more detailed answers on your query.

    Hello,
There are literally thousands of things you can do to promote and advertise your Web site, here are just a few I have found to work for me.
    1. Tell your audience what kind of support they'll get after they buy. It could be free consulting, tech support, free servicing, etc. This may also answer some of their buying questions ahead of time. People don't want to buy products without knowing you will be there to help if they have problems.
    2. Ask people at the end of your copy why they decided not to buy. This will give you new ideas on how to produce ad copy that's more profitable. Have a web form or e-mail link in place so they can answer you. You may find out they don't like your guarantee or graphics. It could be anything.
    3. Think of ways to get your site or business in the the news. You could sponsor a fundraiser, break a world record, hold a major event, etc. Simply write a press release about what you've accomplished, then send it to media outlets that cater to your target audience.

    thanks!!

Yes. There are people who visit those sub-forums to check of services rendered by members.
If the forum is popular enough, there are also chances that your advertisement might show up in search engine listings.

The advertising sections of forums can be extremely busy and attract a huge number of views from members and guests alike. If you look down through our list of forums on the Business Advice Forum home page, you can see the number of people currently viewing each forum section (just after the forum name). It often happens that the greatest number of people are currently viewing our Member Ads & Marketplace forum.

If you look at the ads posted here in descending order of views you will see that many ads receive thousands of views and our most popular ad has had almost 15,000 views. Not bad for an ad that you can post for free. These are actual views by real people who have the potential to be your customers.

As an additional benefit you get a back link from a highly ranked site.

There are lots of advertising forums that you can exchange your activity points on advertisement or banner spaces on their sites for a certain time. So in exchange for a few posts, you can post your ad for free.
But I'm sorry I can't name them since I haven't really participated on those.

Has anyone participated in an affiliate marketing program and more specifically a cost per sale, where you pay commission only when a sale has taken place, type campaign?

I participated as one on two online shops related to my niche.
And to be honest, it's hard to earn using them.

By the way, what's your question regarding it?
