Wow, I've never thought of this one before. *thinking*

I'm going to have to go with Paypal on this one. In terms of authority and reputation both of these companies are on the same level, but when it comes to popularity Paypal still takes the cake. It's probably safe to say that more people are familiar with Paypal and trust Paypal's checkout system more than Google Checkout. Personally, I've used both and had good experiences with both but right now Paypal seems to offer more features for merchants and online business owners. So, for now, I'm going with Paypal. Good question.

I agree with ThirdSEO. I have used Paypal the most and it is accepted in almost every online store as a pay processor. And I never gotten any problems from them.

Vote will go to paypal, it is faster and easier compare to google checkout. By the way, it will be good to use google checkout if only you deal with the people who from the country which paypal not supported

If i remember rightly, Google Checkout is only available to UK and US merchants although people from outside these countries can still make purchases. I think this is one of the reasons why Google checkout is not as used on that many websites and as widely used as PayPal. Personally I would use both (if it is possible to use both for what you want to do) as both have their advantages and it is never good to rely on just one payment method. Alot of sites relied on AlertPay however for the past 6 months they have not been able to process Visa and Mastercard payments at all. This has caused many sites to struggle.

I don't use either but it seems as if Paypal is the choice of people I know in my business.

Great question! My vote goes to PayPal: easy, fast, reliable and available in several countries.

I go with paypal as well. There were a few reasons I stopped using google checkout much. If I remember right, one of the reasons was because it seemed like paypal was more likely to help you dispute a chargeback. It's something I keep in mind, because one year, two people chargebacked just because they didn't remember what the charge was. I didn't lose anything because I could prove that they bought something and that it was shipped, but... it's something I look at now when deciding on payment services.

I am pretty sure that Google Checkout is good, but I have to say that I will go with Paypal because I have never used Google Checkout and Paypal is much more popular.

PayPal can support recurring (subscription) payments, whereas Google Checkout cannot.
Also customers prefer PayPal because they offer payment protection against fraudulent sales.
Google Checkout do not. Well, they do, but not at the click of a button. PayPal is better I think.

PayPal is by far the better supported platform internationally.
