I'm planning to open a logo contest for a new logo for my blog since I myself is having a hard time in creating one.
What do I need to ask on the designers? How much do I need to give as a price? Should a PSD be included?

Well I feel PSD is not as necessary.
Free the designers of design platforms. Let it up to them.
Provide designers with a theme to design the logo first.

When I've ran logo contests in the past I didn't ask for the PSD file, however if the designer is using PhotoShop you may as well have the PSD, in the event that you decide to do any work on the logo in the future.

As regards price you can offer anything from $10 up, the more you offer the more interest there will be in your contest and the higher your chance of getting a good quality design. When posting the contest, be sure to include a link to your blog. This will allow designers to see where the logo will be placed and the theme that it needs to be compatible with.

You would be very welcome to post the contest in the Marketplace section here on Business Advice Forum.

The prize you offer is important. In every contest it is the prize that encourages the audience to participate into it. So offer something that attracts!

Why do you say that? I've seen lots of logo contests with prizes much less than $500 run very successfully!

$100 is good enough. You just need to list out your requirement like what "words" shall be including, what type of design you prefer and blablabla....PSD is optional, can be either included or not as long as the logo is good in design

Seriously? There's no way I'll offer that amount of money in a contest.

of course higher might be better but you gotta set it based on your budget. So, did you start your contests?

Not yet. I'm still saving up some of my extra fund for this contest.
