    Paid Search
Paid search, also known as "sponsored results" or "search engine marketing," is when you create an ad, and then buy space at either the top of a search engine results page or along the right side for your ad to appear. Paid search can be an effective way to market your company because although it costs money, your results are directly measurable. You can assess the number of clicks you get through your paid search campaign, and measure how this affects your sales.

    Social Media Marketing
Social media marketing is engaging your brand with online communities such as Facebook, Myspace and Twitter to increase brand exposure, and ultimately sales. With social media marketing, you can generate interest and awareness about your product or service on RSS feeds, blogs and social networks. Simply sign up for a variety of social media tools, and start talking to your network of friends and contacts about your business. An added benefit is that social media marketing can help you advertise your brand via "word of mouth," which is when your network spreads the word about your company.

    Affiliate Advertising
Affiliate advertising is a promotional idea you can use to have others spread the word about your business in exchange for a commission on each sale they make. For example, if you sell a line of health e-books, you can sign up for an affiliate marketing partnership with Commission Junction or Clinkbank. Once you sign up for an account, describe the product you're selling and communicate your commission structure, others in the network can choose to sell your product for you.

    Blog Marketing
If your company has a corporate website, you can build a blog at little-to-no cost. Blogs help you communicate with your customers on a continual basis, and can also serve as an advertising and marketing tool. Your blog should include useful content to keep readers coming back, but you can also communicate important brand updates, coupons and discounts related to your product or service. If your blog gets a significant amount of traffic, you can include ads on your site, which can generate additional revenue for your company.

    Great, thanks for sharing.

Google Places is also a great free resource for business. If you have a local business you can get some great exposure - all for free, you can also watch your ranking go up for Google Places search results.

Here are a few things you can do with Google Places:

    - customise your page
    - add photos and videos
    - ask customers to leave ratings and reviews
    - get star ratings
    - buy a domain and redirect it to your Google Place page listing - the Google link is very long and not text friendly
    - drive traffic to your website
    - list your open times
    - include product info etc

these are just a few examples...

    Thanks.
Facebook => Pay per click would be another option.
Amazon is great for ebooks / Kindle.

The Internet is replacing the Yellow Pages as more and more people are searching for terms such as €œauto repair services Sydney or restaurants in Calgary. Often a local business does not need a complex or expensive website to be effective. But you should be presenting yourself well and paying attention to some important details in order to use the Internet as an effective marketing tool.

Most businesses make use of yellow pages or electronic yellow pages because most business or service business put their address and contact number on it. It only means that through yellow pages you can contact directly the business you are up to.

Using Google Places is very effective especially if your business is local but you are marketing locally. Also, don't forget to submit your business to local business directories.

Don't forget mobile marketing! Mobile marketing is growing right alongside social media marketing so it's definitely something worth looking in to. Google AdWords has already created advertising networks that are tailored to using mobile devices and operating systems. Good post.

    Hi All,

I agree with your opinions. We can also list our business on many online fee business directories.

Thanks for the tips! Also, I’m going to have to disagree with you Vishal. There are some businesses that can still very much benefit from Yellow Pages, it all depends on how web-savvy your target audience is.

You may want to add video marketing to that list. Websites integrated with videos reduce bounce rates since audio-visual materials will be able to engage visitors better than static content.

There are different methods to improve traffic on your site like Forum Submission, Blog Commenting, Social Media Marketing and Blog Creation and optimisation as well as Article Submission and exchange of Back links. But now days if you want to see results in few days the best mathod is SMO and PPC advertisements.

Another good post bytrade001 thanks for sharing. I also like to share some points.

Purchase leads that are targeted and related to your business. If possible get their phone number and followup.
    Mail out postcards.
Use your knowledge and publish a newsletter or ezine. One your build up your list you can offer paid subscriptions or ads.
Most important be different and get noticed. When you are unique then you are one step ahead of your competition.
