My graphics and web devolving is now getting bigger and I'm starting to earn more and build up my portfolio. Ive got one other forum style I've nearly completed and one website job coming up. By next month I would of probably earn't around 150 pounds ($240) in all (about a year), which isn't loads but seeing as I have only been doing odd jobs is. My promotion is really word of month, so hopefully soon I will be getting more and more work.

My goal is to try learn PHP which is a powerful coding and if I master that, I could start making proper full sites instead of just info and portfolios.

There is my boasting done. :D

Thanks for sharing that with us Keaton. Great to hear that things are working out for you. You are broadening your skills from design to coding with your ambition of learning PHP. Have you thought of concentrating on one skill, e.g. graphic design, and really specialising in it and learning as much as possible about it, before learning something else?

Which of these activities, graphic design or coding, interests and inspires you most?

I've started following some tutorials for graphics and have been learning some new tips and tricks. I think it would be easier to do it at the same time because thats usually what people ask me to do, otherwise I'll end up doing things for the sake of it.

Probably graphics does the most because it's the main part of everything. When you go onto a website the first thing that attracts you is it.

If graphic design inspires you most, would you not concentrate all your time and energy completely on it? Would it not be better to be a brilliant graphic designer than a mediocre graphic designer and a mediocre PHP coder? You will only become a brilliant graphic designer if you really focus on developing and improving your graphic design skills.

Apologies if that sounds blunt, it's not meant to.

    That's pretty cool Keaton.
ON my graphics, I';m currently using GIMP due to Photoshop being so expensive and I can't take he risk to use warez.

£150 isn't bad if you've only been doing bits and bobs.

I sold a site, two domains and around two hours of forum posting time this week... Got just over £120. Not bad.

That's not a bad income but good to start up.

PHP is more seek-over and popular programming. Maybe you should invest some to learn actual PHP and then do your best on it.
