Of course it will. The more content you have listed on Google the more chance you have of being found through Search Engines. I used to have a blog on one of my sites and found that I was being found through keywords in the comments section. Was a nice surprise.

    Hi Geki,

Yes, of course. Posting comments on do follow blogs will definitely help you bring more traffic into your blog. Doing this can also help you have a high PR in search engines.

    Hope this helps.

GekiDan, making your blog comments do-follow will encourage more people to leave comments on your blog because of the value of the links they get from this. Anything that encourages people to visit and comment on your blog posts is a good thing.

One thing you will need to be conscious of is spam control. Spammers will leave comments and link their profiles to Viagra and other spammy sites. You will want to have comment moderation, to ensure that these comments never appear on your blog because they could damage your search engine listings and they will not be appealing to your visitors.

Well, I'm asking if I can make my blog dofollow, not posting on dofollow blogs...

Anyways, thanks Fergal for the suggestion. I'll think about this one one more time just to be sure. And regarding SPAM, you are right. Who wants to have one? :p

I think do follow blogs would surely get more comments and also more spam. But I think it would be more good to have a blog do follow because it invites more commentators and also some of them will write good and by that you get good traffic. For spam comments you can delete them. I have my own blog do follow.

    I wouldnt recommend it.

If you make your blog follow instead of no-follow you will attract large numbers of people without anythign valuable to say, just posting their own links. Why do you want them?

Much better to attract regulars that want to comment for its own sake.

One option is to allow regulars to post a "follow" link, for example once they have made a certain number of other posts, or been a member for some months.

I completely agree. I have a small dofollow Wordpress blog, that I just use for personal use, and every few days I get an email asking me to approve a comment which is usually spam.
The positives of a dofollow blog is that word will spread about it being dofollow, and you will get listed on directories of dofollow blogs.

I would agree that spam may be a problem for you but if you design your 'add comment' forms properly and add some anti-spam programming it could help. I would be very careful with spam though. Make sure you have complete control of your blog (permission to delete and edit comments) before you do it perhaps.

    Good luck.

I do have full control since I'm the admin of that blog.
Although I have a few contributors, I can edit each and everyone's posts.

GekiDan you might find http://akismet.com/ helpful for keeping out the spam and reducing the workload and time you need to spend removing spam comments.

You're right GekiDan, sorry about that. Blogger is a closed system and you can only use the anti spam tools that Blogger themselves provide.

Wordpress is a blog software product, you can download the software through your hosting account (if you have cPanel with Fantastico) or from http://wordpress.org alternatively you can use the hosted version at http://wordpress.com - it literally only takes a minute or two to set up a blog there.

I dont think it will help you.. You're just encouraging comment spam on your blog and to be honest the no.of comments doesnt really justify the popularity of the blog. I would rather see zero comments and get good quality traffic.

What I mean is the Dofollow comments.

Honestly, I haven't yet incorporated the DoFollow comments. I've been busy in the past days so I failed to edit out the theme. But thanks to Melvin's reply, I came to realize that comments is what matters most but the traffic and content.
