Please suggest any two and three ...
Blog is the form of website but it is not the website. Have a look on main differences between blog and website :
1. Website would always talk about organization, business, products and services where as blog would talk about diverse, latest topics
2. Blog is an informal as well as interactive way to communicate with people where as website is formal and the type of one way communication.
3. The content of the blog we can update on regular basis by posting new blog post whereas website’s content we cannot change on regular basis.
I think that the difference has become more cloudy over the last few years. Wikipedia describes a blog as follows:
A blog (a contraction of the words web log is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web and consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first). Until 2009 blogs were usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of a small group, and often covered a single subject.
Today, particularly since WordPress, the leading blogging software, has morphed into more a a full-fledged content management system (CMS) and allows "pages" in addition to "posts" as well as a hierarchical structure, many "blogs" have also morphed into more traditional websites.
At the same time, many regular websites have also incorporated blogs into their design as a means of providing updated content outside the traditional website hierarchy.
The items of a weblog are current on a regular basis. Posts are generally recent and helpful.Normally a blog is an informal way to communicate with the audience. It is interactive in nature. Visitors can express their opinion and communicate with the owners or other visitors. Anyone may have a blog whether it is an organization or individual.
A website is normally owned by an organization that contains the information about products and services of that organization. Normally a website doesn't publish new posts like a blog. Rather it adds data to the pages.A website is more versatile and flexible than a blog.
Well, website could be a blog in fact I don't think that there are lots of differences
Website is a collection of information about the services and products of an organization.Website is way to present the organization on the web whereas blog is a type of website with slight difference i.e
1. the content of blog is updated regularly.
2. Anyone can have blog either organization or an individual.
3. It is fastest way to communicate with target audience.
The main difference between a blog and website is the communication style. A website has a noticeboard communication style. A blog is a website designed for interactive communication. Collectively blogs create the blogosphere, while websites are like stand-alone islands.
In Short -> A blog is always a website, a website may be a blog
Blogs are generally more informally presented to the visitors. The language used is often much simpler than on websites. (though its not necessary as many webmasters now have started to use simpler language, to make their view point clear to a wider range of people.
In blogs, there is a thing called posts, as what you are reading now. Every post have its own static page (as the url suggests), but the main page of the blog is dedicated to theseries of latest posts in reverse-chronological order.
Bloggers often prefer to show around 8-12 recent posts on their blogs main (home) page. Where as there is nothing such in a static website. Even if a website is about tutorials (like Lisa Arby's popular website, 2createawebsite.com). The website was launched years ago, when the blogging wasn't quite into the online world.
The major difference between the two types, blog and a static website is about the content refreshment. The major content of website remains the same. Though the webmaster could add additional pages to the website to increase the content, but the order by which the information is presented could not be later changed.
Yes, Jason has described clearly.
What is the basic difference?
The most basic difference between the blog and the website is not the problem source, which is the view angle.
Website's usually a collective, and the collective voice.
Blogs are personal, individual views.
In Simple Words:
"If one wants to update pages regularly, He should Go for Blog. If one has pages which will remain same (with no change) atleast for 6-6 months, the Website is the best option"
"Every Blog is a Website too, but Every Website can't be called a Blog, it is like Blog is a type of Website with frequent changes and content updates"
Content is regularly updated.
Informative and educational.
Interactivity about industry/customer issues.
Some people have a blog.
Content is static.
Interactivity does not exist. There is only one-way communication.
Communication about products and/or services.
Almost everyone has a website. In fact, it is almost a requirement in business today.
I am surprised to see the question here, but can see that many people have already answered the same question and I do not see any benefit in pointing the same difference every time, but wanted to say, what a question??? I mean he is asking for three differences, in colleges we used to get some questions to point out 5 difference between two given things for 5 marks and we were getting 1 marks for each differences pointed. This really reminds me of my school days exams.
I think website content not always static because it can be updated at specified intervals.
Blog : Actually a blog site is a type of website. But it is different from a complete website in following aspects:
The material of a blog site are customized continually. Content are usually existing and useful.
Normally a blog site is an informal way to link with the audiences. It is interesting in features. Guests can display their perspective and link with the business owners or other visitors.
Website : A website is normally owned by an organization that contains the information about products and services of that organization. Normally a website doesn't publish new posts like a blog. Rather it adds data to the pages. To have a clear idea please look at the points below:
Normally a website is more versatile and flexible than a blog.
Coding knowledge is crucial for developing a website. As it is coded by a trained developer, the website can be customized according to the requirements.
The main difference between and blog and a website is that a website is generally a little harder to maintain and oftentimes requires a solid understanding of the way the Internet works. With a blog, almost anyone can easily and quickly update a blog. It does not require any special working knowledge of the Internet. In addition, there are many sites that offer blog features and most of the time these can be used for free.
Blogs are websites that are designed to engage an audience with fresh content – just like a magazine.
If you are a blogger you are a publisher – no different than a print publisher. The cover of your magazine is the home page – your most recent content.
And google loves blogs because the content they publish is fresh. Fresh content is relevant. It’s current. If it also happens to be high quality, it quickly rises to the top of Google search.
