well i think you need to be more specific about what you want to do with the pc. since i already comfort with the windows environment it will not easy to change that, as I see so many people using Mac because they work with graphic very well. but since i love games too, i prefer working in the windows environment. :)

I believe in windows computer you can do lots of stuff for instance play some amazing games which you can't play in Mac and windows are much easier than Mac and they have less issues and more advantages. This is what I think :)

Mac would be the best choice for ever for a long term approach. Windows might be the best but its not on a long term basis. Rather mac is highly advanced and comes with good functionalities.

I think that would be better idea to chose windows. That is known system and most applications are designed for windows. However Mac has less influence by viruses.

I would recommend Windows. Apple has been slowly going down hill since Steve jobs died. Apple also tries to lock you into their "System" and milk you of every dollar you have. While Microsoft isn't perfect it is at least not as greedy and controlling as Apple.

    I'd prefer Windows.
I had several Mac devices but I did not like either the design or the barriers: I love configure my gadgets as I want. When I mess up something the IT guys help me out :)
Nevertheless we use Linux systems at our company - ooh that can be tweaked all the way ;)

I like to have both. But I definitely prefer mac.

For all those who love windows OS but want a mac you can run windows on Mac too.

I have both. I don't agree with view points of you need Windows to do this or Mac to do this... you can do pretty much anything on both of them nowadays. It comes down to personal preference.

For me the Mac does have a better screen for photos and editing so this made that choice easier. I always here people say that Windows is easier to use, but again, this comes down to preference. If you've never used either and you are given a Mac and use it for 5 years then you'd find a Windows machine clunky and difficult to use and vice versa.

Both have their merits and we're better off having both in the world as it pushes companies to do more and do better.

Really depends on what you need the computer for. However, get a Mac and you can dual boot into Windows if needed. Best of both worlds.. :)

Windows forever. PC's are less expensive, more powerful, and have far more software options.

I personally like the Windows because there are a lot of applications. You can find any application easily.

I use both and they each have their benefits. One issue you need to consider is what software you will be using on your new system. Some software packages are not available for the Mac.

Mac is superb at creating small, portable things (tablets, iPhone, iPod) but for a complete calculating experience I would never ever give up my windows.

I would say windows . As windows is user friendly & provides you wider scope plus it also allows you to customize things the way you want .

You hear from the Windows people that it's because there are fewer Macs out there, but I think it's because of the Mac OS and it's Unix kernel. That doesn't explain why Vista got viruses before it was officially released. The Macintosh comes out of the box as a closed system. If you want it to be networked and remotely operated, you can make that happen, but you have to change it's settings first. Windows machines come out of the box as a wide open vulnerable system. That's so the IT guy can set up the hardware, attach it to the company's network, and install the software remotely from the comfort of his own desk. ActiveX and Internet Explorer leaves the Windows OS wide open to hacks and viruses. The Macintosh OS simply isn't set up that way. If you want to install any kind of software onto your Mac, you first need to type in your administrative password. There is no auto-install for a virus to attach itself to your Mac without your Okay. That is the simple answer why there hasn't been any viruses for the Macintosh in the past 6 years. Another is that first year programmers learn how to create simple Windows script viruses their first year of class. Mac programmers simply love their computers and have no desire to create such an abomination. We love our Mac programmers and happily pay what ever they ask for their good, hard work.

Go for windows 8. You can use Windows apps and is less restrictive than mac. As said by "lion9rock" if you are a gamer then you should choose windows.
