Please clarify your question. Are you referring for blogs that are relevant to your client site or sites that you want to build for your client?

Chris you could consider advertising on CraigsList and other classified sites that cover your area. You could also search for forums and blogs that are both relevant to business and tax and that are based in your target market area. Then promote your site on those by adding quality content (posts & comments) and including a link in your signature and / or profile.

Another option would be to contact sites that offer support to your target market and ask them if they would be prepared to add a link to your site.

Does that type of approach sound like it might work for you?

Try this command search in google site:.my income tax + blog or site:.my financial + blog .my is for Malaysia. You can change .my with any country domain extension. From there, you can get list of relevant blog. Finally you have to contact each webmaster or blogger individually.

Or you can use the search tools in Google where you can restrict the results to local blogs only. You can easily find the search tools button above the search box.

While you may find local blogs that are relevant where you can post and develop a reputation in your commmunity, I suspect that you may be better off concentrating on developing a good AdWords or other PPC strategy as part of your online marketing plan. Fergal's comment about Craigslist and other local classified sites is also excellent advice.

Don't overlook traditional marketing such as flyers, advertising in local print media such as free weekly shoppers, and perhaps even direct mail. Having attractive signage on your office to attract walk-in traffic is also important. When it comes to tax return preparation, most people still want to walk in with their W-2s and receipts for tax deductions, so appealing to the people where they already are is probably more important that being found online.

Craiglist has worked well for me. Make sure you have a picture associated with it. I am also doing anchor text back links for a city 10 miles away. I ave 6k back links now. I think my site will move up fast on that city. I am now on page 10 for that city. I am increasing my prices too because I am growing now
