I know this is old, but I've found that getting a cooling pad helps. I find heat extremely troublesome as a gamer.

Very true. Especially if you own a laptop because the keys are built-in and you might touch a part of the computer every now and then.
I normally let a fan hit the thing while gaming, ;)

is there circulation of air? try to mount an inbuilt cooler with a bigger capacity....this is easier if it is a desktop machine a laptop is a bit trickier if the cooling pad does not work...

The best thing you can do is go for servicing of your laptop because 90 percent of people are facing this problem by so much dusting in their laptops and not cleaned properly.

Try to open it and clean the fan/cooler, or ask somebody to do it.

Don't hold the laptop on your knees directly, but on a hard surface that allows the air to circulate.

The problem of laptop overheating is caused due to over time dust and other particles clog the vents, fan and exhaust port or radiator of the system thus restricting the air flow and cooling. To resolve this overheating issue you need to clean out your laptop thoroughly once in a while to avoid dust particles, try to find a cooling pad. If still the issue persists then you can also take laptop repair services from the experts of AskPCExperts.

Do not place your laptop in bed or any soft area to avoid over heating..

To solve the overheating problem, especially in laptop, Get the cooling unit, dust it out, replace the thermal grease and put everything together again.

i also encountered the same problem. The best thing to do is to have a cooling fan on the back of your laptop, next you must be in an air condition room so that there's no heating problem on your laptop.
