Is there a College degree program that specializes in Marketing/Advertising?

I have huge interests in Marketing/Advertising, not the degree (or piece of paper), just the knowledge. I think as an inspiring Artist, I think I can perfect my art by knowing on how to make it to certain markets/demographics. I can make whatever certain art –for my field- the boss (or consumers) ask for, or have a large demand for.

As I want to run my own production studio in the future after being a Director/Producer for companies, I think it will be a key skill to know my audiences extremely well in order to make the perfect and very profitable products that is based on my artistic products that I make from my studio. I’m not all worried about it when working for companies as the companies normally would ask me a certain product the way they want or may like, they invest into my artistic products. But once I run my company I'll be fully responsible in knowing my audience extremely well in order to achieve high profits. Correct?

If so, how can I get the best Marketing/Advertising education out there? I haven’t seen any colleges with Marketing/Advertising degree programs at all. I do see they give it in my program which is Business Administration, but they only teach a little bit of it... not a whole education program specializing into that area. If there isn’t one anywhere I really think they should be one. Smart Marketing/Advertising is extremely important to the success of a business. And I know I could just hire a firm to do it for me once I run my studio, but I don’t see marketing firms who specialize in specific fields like a Marketing firm who specializes in Adult Video Advertising. I think my own company would be much more efficient in doing that job.

There are loads of Marketing degree programmes out there. Just do a search in Google for "Marketing degree courses" and other similar terms and you will find any amount of them.

I understood from your previous posts that you had already decided on the college programme you would be taking?

yes in community college, my major is Business Administration. Which is also setup as a transfer program to a University. As I transfer my major will be the same, but with the added minor Entrepreneurship. Sadly at one of my University choices, I didn't see any major or minor for Marketing... Only as a course or two.

I've made a search on wiki. about marketing degrees, got nothing. I'm looking on google right now and reply/edit my post once I find something.

Update: couldnt find any that isn't an online college... got a lot of hits from colleges who offer them as courses only within the Business Administration degree program... I may have to consider getting an MBA down the road once I get settled into a career.

You can do many different courses to do with business and business marketing. If you would like to do it as a whole you would choose Business Marketing however you could do a course where you do business studies to start off with to get you a feel for which one you want to do for definate and then for the 2nd year you could decide to do business marketing.

With me im doing business studies for 1 year, work paid placement for 1 year and then business management for 2 years :) which suits me fine.

You will do able to do the business administration degree which will be hard to get into and you may find it difficult to do, but it is a good qualification at the end of the day and what many employers will recognise as a quality degree which you should be proud of it you achieve it.

    Good luck :)

Because global competition has become so intense, it should come as no surprise that companies invest heavily in their marketing and promotion campaigns. DeVry University, AIU Online, Post University - Online and Kaplan University conduct the courses you are looking for.

There are many marketing courses available... Just do a little search for that.
And even in MBA (Master of Business Administration) there is specialization in the 2nd year in the field you want .. if you do that you can take Marketing there also.

    From where you are ??
In India there are some Diploma courses also for that.

    Thanks & Regards

I want to master Marketing/Advertising... That's how interested I am in that area, LoL...

I'm strongly considering to go for my MBA years down the road while I'm in my career with my B.S. Degree. In the MBA degree, is that 2 years more of education after you get your B.S. in Business Administration?

That depends on the specific MBA programme, most programmes I've seen take between 18 months and three years to complete.

This is going to sound terrible but everything I know about advertising and marketing I've learnt through necessity on job and by personally studying great copywriters and advertisers.
There are copywriting courses you can invest in - John Carlton has a couple of great options and they cover everything from determining your unique selling point through to writing killer content, especially sales pages.
Siimon Reynolds is another favourite of mine, not sure what courses he has to offer but I have learnt more about running a business from venture capital, to structure to goal setting to advertising and marketing from following this man than anything I ever learnt through a formal education program.
Funnily enough I possibly learnt more about business and marketing from James Schramko an internet marketer also...
There are many avenues to learn great skills - one is to invest in a degree but if you don't actually need the paper proof/letters after your name, its also worth considering people doing very successfully what you want to do and learn from them and model them!
Just my two cents because in reality my practical and personal study has taught me more than I ever learnt doing degrees or formal education! PLus many of the greats in each of these areas did no formal study in the area they have created huge success in!

I dont understand? are these people you named has some kind of way to teaching me/giving me the knowledge about Marketing & Advertising? How do I learn from the people you've mentioned?

in MBA's do you have an option to specialize in one certain area, like Marketing/Advertising, Management, Human Resources, ect..

My apologies Chris - the people I mentioned are people who have learning products / courses in the specific areas mentioned. My point (obviously unclearly made sorry!) is if you know what you want to learn specifically it is possible to find people who are successful at those things and learn from them.

Yeah as fergal said most MBA programs in universities offer specialization and it may be advertising but for that you will have to check with them.

Under Bachelor of Science in Business Administration you will find marketing as a major course. You can try to Google Search them using keywords "marketing/advertising course".
