Is sport good for health?

    Is sport good for health?

    Generally many people will agree that the practice of sport is a good thing for health. But is really the case ?

    A moderate practice of sportis certainly a very good thing , but an intensive or a professional practice is a entire different matter.

    For example if we consider the life esperancy, we can see for example (but they are others) that professional americans players have a life experancy of 56 years wich is not great indeed. The case of the Sumo in Japon is worse, it's rare that a sumo live more than 50 years (but they have a semi-god status and all the women they want ... Hey beautifull loser dont you want to be a sumo :D ). Concerning Soccer (european football) many of them have their knees destroyed after years of practice.
    The doping also, is a very bad factor, which can explain (Pittsburgh Penguins #87 Sidney Crosby Black ) but not totally this diminution of life esperancy.

    Sport is good for the health for as long as you will not abuse yourself :)

    It good for your health. But do not abuse like what sandie_nicole said. Example, When you have run for like 10km long without stopping and you are very tried already but you still continue to run. Like this type of situation, you are abusing yourself. By doing that regularly, you will grow muscles in your heart.

    Of course anything that you do intense will harm you, it is not just about sport. and sport is really required now a days because most of us sit in the office in day time which does not require any physical activity so by doing some sport after working hours help us to be fit and fine.

    When i was in 20's i used to think that sports are not good for health and they just consume our time. But now i realize that sports are good for our health they keep us active and healthy. We can avoid laziness by playing sports.

    Yes sports is good for health. Because our body is feet from any sport.

    Moderate sport is good.

    if you take 2h / 4 / 6 or 8 per week is good. If you do a lot, as a professionnal this is a bit hard for your body.

    Moderation for everything is good. I'm playing table tennis weekly. It is not hard and intense sports like other sports. But what i've notice, it is really helps me to sweat which i really need and I am enjoying it as well. I suggest you to try it too.

    Sport is good but you need to choose the right sport which suitable for you
    For example, if your have heart attack, then never go for 100m running

    A lot of exercise is required to make up for how poorly our body manages without it. Of course, abusing your body by exercising inappropriately or too much can cause you harm, just as drinking too much water can cause you harm. Both exercise and water, however, are essential.

    I played tennis and quit last year. I got knee problem frequently. Then I choose rush walking and it is great. 5 km 2 to 3 times a week, with comfortable shoes in fresh early morning. I think the effect to my health is much more positive then tennis. In my opinion, then, with sport like rush walking or other non game ones we can control regular movement. It is good for our heart and body. Game has more fun but sometimes we are forced to do risky movement, not good for our body, especially for an old man like me.

    Man sport is to health,as important as the sun to the plants.
    Whithout the sun,the plants will die,withouth sport we will become like vegetables,fat as hell,and our stamina will decrease.
    Sport=Life !

    I think if you do a sport, it keeps you healthy in the hear and now, and your happy yo do it at an intense level and that makes you happy, then go for it, don't worry about the tomorrow, think about the now!

    Having a sport activity will not just keep the body strong but also keep our thinking away from bad habits.

    My answer is 'Yes'. Sports provide not only physical but mental growth to us. Sports keep us health.
