i am doing a job for a guy who wants video tutorials of angry birds original and angry birds seasons. he has asked me to tell him a price quote as per how many US$ per video . he also tells me that $1/video is not feasible as it is a lot of videos.
I want to know why anyone would want to buy the videos?
(if he is using it for an app or a CD how much could i make if i cut a deal with him so that I get a share of the profits):$$::$$:
and how much should i be charging him per video as a professional. i am new to this field and hence need your suggestions.:confused:

Maybe your friend is trying to make angry birds complete walkthrough and sell it online :p Though you should ask him for $0.5 per video at my knowledge. Also, you can make it $0.4 per video and have 10% ownership if he agrees!

the price is probably depends on your own, you might consider to give the best price since it is a bulk order.
many people want angry bird tutorial just because many people are playing it, and it can use to generate traffic

It can't be higher than the game itself or people might not buy it. Maybe talk to the developer of Angry Birds and see if you can make a deal with him.

i have already done a few videos in the past for the same person....
    $40 for 30 videos of beach volley($1.33/video)
    $15 for 15 videos of carnival upheaval($1/video)
ryt now its a lot of levels he is asking for are you sure he will be ready for cutting me in for a deal?
or will it be best if i charge him $0.8/video or 20% off on the cost of making which seems more attracting? (though both are the same which sounds good to hear?

i have another question why on earth would any one want to buy the tutorials when you can see them online for free??
even if there is such an app and its very good how many people do you think might download the app per day (just an average guess of yours?)

kode47 have you considered charging an upfront flat fee for your work, as opposed to getting paid on the basis of every video that sells? That would seem like a fairer approach, considering that you are doing all the work to create the videos. If you agree to get paid on a per video basis and then the videos don't sell, you won't get paid at all for your work.

Another option, as has already been suggested, would be to charge on a per video basis but require a minimum fee. E.g. you could charge $0.50 per video but require a minimum payment of $50. Hence, if 100 or less videos sell, you get paid $50. Yet you would still benefit financially if the video is really successful and more sales are made. Please note that I'm not familiar with pricing in this market and the figures I give are for example only.

    Good luck with it!

kode47 are you producing those videos yourself? Are you selling them to him in digital format?

People who are smart enough to download an app and play a game like angry birds are also most likely able to youtube the lvl they're stuck on and find out that way.

kode47 would it be true to say that it costs you as much time and effort to make one copy of the video as it does to create 100 copies? If that is the case, I would still try to charge him an upfront free per video produced rather than a charge per copy. Perhaps other members have a different opinion.

i will be producing 500 videos (PRODUCING)
I was thinking more like 0.7 to 0.8 USD per PRODUCTION of video....

    kode47 I don't know the industry personally, so what I'd suggest is that you;

    1. Research your competitors to see what they are charging
    2. Estimate your costs for producing the videos, include your time in those costs
    3. Take an opinion as to how much the videos are worth to the client and how much he is prepared to pay for them
    4. Use the three points above to determine the price you charge.
