Understand the concept behind SEO keywords. The term SEO stands for “search engine optimization,” and it refers to how you can best equip your website to gain high placement in search engine results.

    2
Figure out quality SEO keywords for your specific website. SEO keywords should be a single word or a phrase that consists of two to three words. These keywords should directly correlate to the content of your website. For example, if you have a website about inexpensive shoes, quality SEO keywords would include words and phrases such as “cheap shoes” and “inexpensive sneakers."

    3
Write content on your website that utilizes the selected SEO keywords liberally. You want to use the keywords often in your writing, while not changing the meaning of the content or having it read unnaturally. You should include the SEO keywords at least twice per paragraph.

    4
Add the SEO keywords into other areas of your website. Not only should the SEO keywords be in your written content, but it should be in the titles, meta titles, meta descriptions, image descriptions, link tags and anywhere else you can showcase your keywords.

    5
Keep an eye on which SEO keywords are driving traffic to your website. After a while, you can figure out which SEO keywords you should concentrate on and which ones aren’t worth the time and effort by checking your website stats.

You've given some very good advice here, and I'd like to add a few things.

    1. Because some firms and consultants use "SEO' to refer to the entire process of getting your website highly ranked, this is also sometimes referred to as "On-Page Optimization".

    2. Depending on the time, and or funds, you have available, you may need to go after longer tail keywords that will still bring traffic, but will not be too competitive to achieve in a reasonable period of time.

    3. I would avoid the use of the term "liberally" here, because you don't want to use too many keywords, which could lead to being penalized for "keyword stuffing". The point was made here that it must not "read unnaturally".

    4. This is another place where you have to avoid "keyword stuffing". Use no more than two or three keywords in your tags, making sure that they are related to the content of the page.

    5. Researching your keywords should be done first to make sure you're going after the right keywords in the first place. However, it's a good idea to keep an eye on your stats, to make sure they still deliver.

Having the most relevant and low competitive keywords with higher search volume is the toughest job to do.
