Although most people thought they would simply be a fad at first, blogging has indeed become the “in thing” nowadays. Thanks to the popularity of Facebook and Twitter, the days of blogging just simply to tell people what’s going on in your personal life are long gone. Today, people create blogs to for just about anything under the sun. Topics on family, love, work, life, sex, earning money, fashion, etc. are just a few of the many one can blog about. Since you don’t have to learn a bunch of confusing HTML or other programming languages to get started with a blog, it’s a very simple way for you to express your thoughts, ideas, and opinions on any topic. … and thanks to blogging software like WordPress, the process of setting up a blog is nowhere near as difficult as creating a HTML website. Although building a blog that looks as good, or better, than a HTML website is a far easier task thanks to all of the themes and plugins available for WordPress, the job of promoting a blog is still the same. Whether you’re writing about your favorite sport or giving reviews of the latest video games, you still need drive visitors to your blog in order to generate profits from your efforts. Just as there are many different ways to build a website, there are many different ways to drive traffic as well. … and just as some website building tools are better suited for different types of sites, some traffic generation methods are better suited for different situations as well. So… even though there are many ways to promote your blog beyond the ones I will reveal here, I’ve found these work particularly good to drive traffic to blogs, especially those built using WordPress. Blog Promotion Tip #1: Blog comments Instead of trying to convert an article or press release reader into a blog visitor, wouldn’t it be easier to find people already reading blogs who you can reach out to and drive back to your blog? Of course it would… and that’s why blog commenting is such a great blog promotion system for any blogger. … and it’s not complicated either. Just visit Google, search the keywords you want to target, and browse through the results you get to find blogs you can leave comments on. Alternatively, you can use software tools like Comment Kahuna or Fast Blog Finder to help speed up the process. When you find a blog that’s related to the niche you’re targeting with your own site, you can post a comment to it and earn a backlink to your site in the process. As long as you do it the right way, of course. Blog Promotion Tip #2: Video site submissions Just as visitors to another blog in your niche are likely to be interested in visiting your own, so too are the people visiting video sites like YouTube and DailyMotion. Thanks to the social mechanisms on these sites, people watching videos, rating them, leaving comments, and posting replies are already comfortable with many of things they’ll come across when they reach your blog. So instead of trying to swim against the current, your efforts will have a much greater impact when you go with the flow instead. … and it’s pretty easy to do. Take any article or blog post from your site, turn it into a slideshow presentation, play the slideshow on your computer, and record yourself narrating the slides using Jing. Just don’t forget to include the URL of your site at the end of the presentation, or watermark the video with your logo or website URL. After the video has been recorded and edited, just upload it to YouTube with a link to your blog in the video description. You can even submit the same video to other video sharing sites like Vimeo and DailyMotion using a submission service like TubeMogul or Hey!Spread to speed up and semi-automate the process.
