Welcome to Business Advice Forum salmanmumbai89.

When did you submit your site to DMOZ? It takes a long time to get approved, sometimes eighteen months or more.

    Welcome salmanmumbai89 to BusinessAdviceForum (BAF)!

Could you name your site or post a link about your site so we could tell it's proper category for dmoz.

How long have you been trying to submit your site there?

Well, I do see a category there.

Arts > Movies > News and Media.

Have you tried to add your link there? I see that category appropriate with the information you have given us of your site.

As far as your link getting added to dmoz, It doesn't guarantee that every submitted sites get added. Also, I think there are lots of sites like your providing reviews, news of Bollywood?

I have submitted my site several times, but no response. I even doubt there is someone receiving our requests.

Does it really help our site to rank high on searches after being listed on dmoz?
Cause i don't see its worth if it can't help besides i don't see anyone using dmoz to actually browse pages to find info.

You need to give it more time, it generally takes longer than that to get listed.

That's a mistake, their editors don't like to see a site submitted more than once. You should submit your site once, making sure you submit it to the correct category and then don't submit it again.

My personal view is that Google gives a lot of importance to back links from DMOZ, due to the fact that it is so difficult to get listed there, the links are human edited and you cannot pay to get listed.

    No, the correct category is:
    Regional/Asia/India/Arts_and_Entertainment/Movies/Hindi/Bollywood
as you can see from the similar sites listed.

This is a common mistake. Submitters don't explore the Directory sufficiently to find the best fit, and then wonder why their site isn't listed. Clue: If you don't see any sites similar to your own, you're probably in the wrong category. If you had googled for dmoz bollywood, or dmoz hindi movies, you would have found the correct category. The Directory is very large, which is why there are so many subcategories. Bollywood is a specific genre.
