Is the opinion of a respected columnist or expert generally accurate and credible coverage?
Is a guest blog post credible?

In my opinion, the opinion of a respected columnist is generally accurate, especially if he/she can cite respected and knowledgeable experts to backup their statements. An "expert" however, may or may not be credible, depending on how they became an expert - you'll notice I said "respected and knowledgeable" above. Anyone can claim to be an expert, but only those with the proper education and experience can truly be called "expert".
Guest blogs on the other hand, not so much. Again. it depends on the knowledge and experience of the blogger. The owner of the blog, hopefully, will check out the credentials of the guest blogger before publishing their post, and the reader can do the same.
